1988 Jeep Wrangler YJ Additional Info:
An awesome off-road attitude, some nice upgrades, and a value price come together on this 1988 Jeep Wrangler YJ. It makes for a true go-anywhere 4x4 that leaves the door open to your imagination.
The pusher bar with big off-road lights really sets a nice tone for this Jeep. The polished metal even goes nicely with the iconic grille. It gives this the look of style and substance. You see that elsewhere, like on the stylish 15-inch lattice wheels with rugged Remington Mud Brute tires. The tan top and side doors have the crispness of a newer investment. And it looks nice against the distinctive gray/green paint. This color still cleans up well, but it's far from perfect, so you'll never think twice of getting this Jeep dirty. Plus, there are some nice upgrades, like side steps and trailer hitch on the rear.
Inside is more of that attractive tan, and the newer camo seat covers are a nice touch for when this Wrangler is open to nature. And speaking of open to the world, this has the features you really appreciate in a YJ when the top is off, like the metal half doors and a more comprehensive roll bar w/padding. There are nice upgrades like an AM/FM/CD stereo with USB input, grab handles, cup holders, and provisions for R134a air conditioning (compressor will need servicing.) There are a couple of areas that will need to be addressed, including the driver's seat. But with the value price and a very large aftermarket, this shouldn't be much of an issue. These Wranglers arguably had the best dash layout of any generation. You have a tilt steering column to get a good view of the speedo and tach. Then the rest of the gauges are spread wide across the center to remind everyone that this was a serious machine.
Under the hood is a 4.2-liter inline-six that was derived from the tough-as-nails AMC line of motors. It shows the right signs of good maintenance, so it fires up and runs with the kind of confidence to live up to its legacy. Plus, there are more recent major investment, like a refurbished five-speed manual transmission and new brakes. It's a true go-anywhere 4x4 Jeep with a two-speed transfer case. And the power steering and power brakes with discs up front makes it nice for on-road excitement, too.
This is a complete and distinguished Wrangler offered for quite an obtainable price. Don't let this deal slip away, call today!
