This is one of those great cruising cars that just seems to get all the details right. After all, a 1964 Chevrolet Malibu in the perfect red/black color scheme, small block V8, and a desirable four-speed just feels like a great adventure waiting to happen. The Chevy Chevelle hit the scene in a big way for the first time in 1964, and a cool convertible like this one was a key reason for the success. The design represents... the new edge style of the 1960s, especially the flared rear quarter panels that are one of the car's defining feature. Plus, the crisply contoured hood bears a familial resemblance to its big brother, the Impala. As you look over this droptop you can see a high-level restoration that has upheld these defining features. The super smooth body has a nice shade of cherry red. When combined with the tight black folding roof, it just has one of those appearances that defines a generation. The extra chrome in places like the lower rocker area, and in the rear really distinguishes the Chevelle Malibu. Having all this brightwork complete and in excellent shape is always nice to see with up-market trim. Plus, the Malibu cursive script on the side is an easy indicator of a good life, because they only survived on the best cared for classics. Lowered and wearing a fresh set of 15" American Racing Torque Thrust wheels, this car has a look! Open the door, and this beautiful machine continues to deliver the goods. It has been given some Super Sport treatment with desirable features like black vinyl bucket seats and a full-length center console in-between. The power steering is still controlled by the original wheel that has a half-ring chrome center so that you have full view of the cool round gauge package. This one has even been upgraded to an AM/FM/cassette radio, but it's hard to notice because it's knob-style fits with this vintage atmosphere. In fact, the only piece that you can instantly recognize as more modern than '64 is the set of auxiliary gauges mounted under the dash, but these are always welcomed on a car built for driving. A new wiring harness was installed by the current owner to replace the original. Under the hood is the kind of small-block you love to see. The 327 cubic-inch V8 is the backbone of Chevy's power domination. It looks great in the engine bay dressed in the correct Chevy orange paint, chrome air cleaner, recently replaced carburetor and intake manifold, and very tidy hoses. This one feels so authentic, it even has the glass washed reservoir refill bottle mounted in the engine bay. Underneath the car resides a new gas tank that is sure to hold gallons of fun. But what you really will love about the motor is how it has strong pulling power on the road, and the awesome sound out the dual exhaust. Best of all you can get the maximum performance on demand thanks to the four-speed manual transmission. A red convertible Malibu with a black sports interior is the dream for many of us. This is the perfect cruiser that steers easy and has a four-speed for when you really want to get going. So your only concern should be will you be quick enough to snatch up this classic Chevy?
