1958 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible Additional Info:
The 1958 Chevrolet Corvette's design is a true favorite among fans because it brings together some of the best styling elements around. So to find a well-priced two-owner example that has been treated with care is always alluring.
This was an evolutionary year for the Corvette. The four headlight look debuted to give this a lower and wider sporty impression. And the dual front bumpers bisecting the bodywork was a new piece that was a masterstroke of design. They even added some extra brightwork with the silver streaks in the chrome. Even with these new pieces, you also still got the classic elements you love, like the bright toothy grille and dual exhaust coming through the rear bumper. So it's a Corvette of significance, and this one even has a cool history. The story that we are told is that this is a two-owner car, and both of them were long-term. The second owner has had this since 1986. In the possession of the original owner, the fuel injection equipment was not behaving properly, and so this was updated with a crate V8 and a carb setup. But the fuel injection badges you see on the side were earned. The Silver Blue paint is a 1958-correct color that was an update around when the second owner purchased the vehicle, and it still gives a good shine over three decades later. And everything from the completeness of the brightwork, to the fitting of the body panels tells you that this one has always had a careful life.
The color-matched hardtop gives you a sleek coupe silhouette, but we all know these are the most fun with no roof at all. The black interior has an attractive appearance against the Silver Blue. It has a clean look with a bit of aged-in style you want in a driver's classic. In fact, the radio has been upgraded to a retro-style AM/FM digital tuner w/cassette to upgrade your driving music. It really is a driver's environment with the large/grippy sports steering wheel, Hurst shifter, and a full gauge package, including the tach that was special to fuelie cars.
As mentioned before, this one was updated with a crate motor about halfway through its life so far. The 350 cubic-inch V8 is a larger displacement over stock, and it has a four-barrel carburetor on top. The update was all about adding reliability, and so it's great to have a Corvette that runs so strong today. The four-speed manual transmission gives you proper control over the motor. Plus, the undercarriage photos will show you some nice investments in worthwhile upgrades, like a newer stainless dual exhaust and front disc brakes.
Complete with owner's manual, this is a well-kept true classic that's built to drive and has a story to tell. So don't miss this solid first-gen Corvette. Call now!
