This 1966 Convertible was last registered in 1996, and been in garage storage since then. Many parts have been collected over the years for the restoration, but too many other projects are keeping me from working on this one. For the Corvair enthusast, the 140 engine comes with seven, one barrel carbs, all in some form of disassembly, as well as a 4 barrel intake runner. The crank was annealed, the jugs are new standard size and honed, ready to go. Rings have been put on the pistons, and the rods have been machined, as well as the heads. All machine work was done by Brads machine shop in Gainesville, Ga. Quality parts and quality labor. This is a project that is ready to be put together. Anyone with a little Corvair knowledge should be able to put this thing back together in a few days. There are 2 of most things, like transmissions and engines, and 3 of some others, like engine covers and such. I have a spare 110Hp engine that I bought just in case there were any nuts or bolts needed to complete the build. I did not get a "coffee can" filled with bolts when I bought it, so I know there will be a need for this. When you are done with assembly you will be able to sell off many parts to help defray the cost. I believe all the parts are here to put this together. Gaskets, “o” rings, seals, lifters, etc.... All here. New steering wheel too. And.....oh......did I forget to mention that this is a factory A/C car? A pretty rare option for a convertiblein 1966. All the parts are there.
I'm including a set of 14” wheels from an S-10 that I was going to use. The car still has the 13” wheels and tires on it, that were stock, if you like that sort of thing. The body and paint were done first, so there is only mechanical work to left to do. The paint shines up well with only a little buffing. I will try to include a picture of the front fender where I buffed it. And the interior needs to be put together. There is a brand new convertible top, still in the box, that will come with the car. It is Black.
You will need to bring a trailer to pick this one up, with all the boxes of parts too. Car is about a half hour north of Atlanta.
Comes with Georgia Bill of Sale only. No title. There is no title with this car. Georgia allows bill of sale transfers when a vehicle is over 25 years old. If your state will not register the car with a bill of sale only, DO NOT BID. If buyer comes from Georgia too, I'll even throw in a 1966 Georgia tag to put on it. It's red and white too!
And, another offer. If you've read this far you must be a Corvair guy. And if you're still not convinced that this is the car you want, listen to this. I would be willing to pay somebody (the right guy) to put this thing together for me. It's not that I don't want the car. I don't have the time to finish it. I need a push to get this project back on track. Maybe you want a winter project? Or know a corvair guy that does? Help me get the motor and tranny into the car, and I'll take it from there. Let's talk. 404-484-7722
