1967 Austin Healey 3000 MKIII BJ8
VIN HBJ8L/139528
The Classic Car Gallery is proud to offer this lovely 1967 Austin Healey 3000 MkIII. This car is an excellent “driver quality” Healey that has been extremely well sorted and maintained. The car is one of the best driving Healeys we have ever driven. The car has been sympathetically restored over the years and remains in very nice condition. We have restoration records going back to the late 1990’s. Throughout the years, the following restorative work was done;
Full engine rebuild, including pistons.
Rebuilt transmission
The overdrive was sorted (March 20016)
New convertible top
The entire brake system was replaced, including calipers, discs, drums, pads and master cylinder.
New clutch
Chrome wire wheels
New exhaust system
The suspension was rebuilt, with new bushings and renewed shocks.
The Carburetors have been cleaned, balanced and synchronized (April 2016)
Replaced wood veneers
The interior seats were recovered and new carpets were installed. The red seats show beautifully.
New carpets installed in the trunk
New headlights installed
The wiring harness is clearly new and correct.
All chrome body trim shows well and clearly in near new condition.
All of this work was within the last 8000 miles (since 1997). Full documentation, including cancelled credit card slips and all receipts chronicle the work. The original 6-cylinder engine runs smoothly with good power and torque. Compression is excellent in all cylinders. The chrome wire wheels are in excellent condition, and are shod with Yokohama 185/70R15 radial tires. The rebuilt 4-speed manual transmission shifts well, and the OVERDRIVE works as it should. All electrical and mechanical systems work well. The clutch engages properly. The top is in excellent condition, and the mechanism is well finished and works well. All chrome trim is excellent. The bodywork is good, and the car has NO issues with corrosion, the black paint while very shiny with good depth, is wavy in places and sanding marks are visible in some places (not really possible to see in photographs). A good wet sand and polish may do wonders, but I mention this in the interest of full disclosure. Big money was clearly spent over the years, and it shows. This car drives as well as any Austin Healey we have driven; this point cannot be overstated. It is well sorted and excellent examples of a “driver quality Big Healey”.
