1967 Austin Healey 3000 3000 Additional Info:
1967 original Austin Healey 3000 BJ8 Mark III 49,000 original SURVIVOR" Historically documented with rare factory production windscreen card with hand written notes from factory workers plus Spanish SHIPPING PAPERS AND DOCUMENTS 2nd owner in great condition.original everything and SOLID! Drive anywhere! Investors and Austin Healey enthusiast take note:
FIRST A LITTLE HISTORY: Taken off the assembly line and shipped to Barcinola Spain by special request 1967. Originally was destined for Chicago and made to U.S. Specification, owever was refitted with euro signal lenses and factory locking fuel cap before it left the factory. Spent a year in Spain and then was loaded onto the Spanish Sea liner "COVADONGA" From Spain it was shipped to Bilabo New York port (I HAVE ALL THE SHIPPING DOCUMENTS) then taken to its original owner in Valparaiso Indiana where it called home until I bought her from a estate in 2007. I have a old news paper clipping of the Long time owner being installed as president of the Ellwood works management Assn. of U.S Steel 1970 found in the glove box along with his golf tees,8 track tape and player hidden under the dash AND period Vietnam era milatary backpack still stowed in the boot, ike going back in time! I also have a photo of the "SISTER" Healey and owner that was built on the assembly line directly in front of mine. A exact duplicate minus the euro mods.
ORIGINAL "Factory production card with factory worker hand written notes" Spanish shipping documents shipping papers and hand book.A very well documented Healey with personal history.
FACTORY CHALK MARKS: See photo showing factory yellow "67" chalk marks still present in boot wheel well left side of spare tire.
Rare factory installed locking petrol cap which shares the ignition key.
CAR STRUCTURE: All solid top to bottom, olid floors, boot floor, oe boards, outriggers, frame rails straight as a arrow with much of the original British Racing Green paint still intact!
INTERIOR: extremely nice original interior with very crisp wood dash and gauges, ash pad, oor panels, nd rear seating area. The long time owner always drove with the top up! He liked the sports car feel, ut did not care for the convertable consept! Therefore, well preserved interior... I did install new carpets and sound and heat insulation for a more comfortable ride. Original seat covers are in wonderful condition...I did install new seat foams for more comfort and support. Talk about a period 67 Healey BJ8.... It did not have seat belts installed! I had to install period style seat belts in 2010
DRIVE TRAIN AND MOTOR: All original and never removed from car. Starts, dles, nd runs great! Car routinely driven on 100 mile weekend trips with never a problem. Motor bay was nicely detailed to all original spec. I have the original radiator that goes with the car.
TRANMISSION: Flawless, hifts smooth into all gears and reverse, verdrive functions perfectly as it should and great on interstates. Clutch is in very good condition and engages smoothly.
BRAKE system: All rebuilt front to back with rebuilt from calipers, ut rotors and rear drums, soft lines, front wheels bearings, ew rear brake cylinders, clutch slave cylinder and converted to dot 5 for much better reliability.
COOLING SYSTEM: New all aluminum radiator with larger core, exas cooling fan, roper sleeved thermostat, new water pump, ew hoses and correct hose clamps, fresh green coolant added.recovery expansion tank installed for a sealed cooling system.
CARBURETORS: Newly rebuilt with S.U. Kits and properly tuned to Midwest conditions. New moss fuel tank and S.U. fuel pump for a clean fuel system. I have original fuel tank as well.
Tires: 5 new Nexon tires and tubes, ll balanced with new front end professional alignment...drives smooth at all speeds! I really love the Nexon tires, ery confindent inspiring in all conditions.
EXHAUST SYSTEM: all stainless steel front to back!
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: All original and still retains positive groun, uctions perfectly in great condition.
OIL SYSTEM: new up graded spin on oil filter adaptor for much better reliable sealing and filtering. (I have the original canister oil filter) I removed cleaned and resealed the oil pan,
Original paint is what can be expected of a 50 year old car! But still in presentable condition for its age, s the original soft top, as split seams however can be restitshed. All body panels are solid! Has some dings as can be expected but nothing serious. Since the car is a survivor I wanted to leave most of the paint and top alone as everyone who sees the car agrees Like wearing a comfortable old leather jacket! They are factory original only once and not many factory built survivors left in the world in this very nice condition with documents, ictures and history. I simply wanted to do a "historic light mechanical restoration" All that was needed to a already nice condition factory built original time capsule Healey. The last year built and higher horse power factory Austin Healey. NOTE: I RESERVE THE RIGHT TO END THE AUCTION AT ANY TIME FOR ANY REASON.
