1971 Volvo 1800 Additional Info:
Up for sale is a 1971 1800E, with a manual transmission, that was a 20 yr barn find I purchased with 46,125 actual miles. I've restored a few of these and had the intent of a full concourse resto on this one, except 2 other full resto projects came in late so this car would be forced to sit for at least another 1-2 yrs before I could hope to get to it and I simply do not have the storage for something to sit that long.
The previous owner had the car stripped for paint then stored it for 2 decades, fortunately in a heated barn. Many times with blasting you will get minor pitting / pinholes - this was no exception. Basic filler would easily suffice - the previous owner attempted this in spots - but I purchased all new NOS patch panels (which is included if you want them) as I prefer to restore them to 100% steel. The issues are in the atypical places - behind the front wheel well and in front of the rear wheel wells.
The rockers, floors, doors and overall body is very clean and solid. The motor had not been started or run in many years. We changed the oil, drained and cleaned the fuel tank, replaced the fuel pump, cleaned and tightened the grounds, had the ECU checked out, rebuilt the distributor, cleaned all the contacts in the injectors and installed a new battery. 4 gallons of fresh fuel and some injector cleaner and she started on the 3rd try. Starts and runs but will still need tuning for anything of daily use. Exhaust looks to be new - NOS decals are still on it.
Interior is in nice shape - car did not have front seats when I got it, so I included a decent pair from a 72 to make it complete. Anything that is missing in the pics (vent windows, glass, etc) IS included - they were removed when it was stripped. Anything else such as rubber seals, belt trims, etc, are items you would replace anyways. I have many NOS parts that could be included, depending on the final price. This is a great resto project and would still be on my docket if I had any more room in the inn.
Clear title is in hand and I will assist in any way with transport. Stored in NW Ohio.
