Up for sale is a very nice Southern California 1979 VW Beetle Convertible. I am listing this for my elderly friend who is 81 years old. He does not know how to list something on Ebay.Good clean VW that runs and drive nice! The car has been garage stored and covered. Nice older re-paint in the original color. Nice mostly original interior in black with some minor aging and wear. Great dashboard. The top is a tan cloth top and is in good condition and working well. There is a parade boot that comes with the car. All of the body seals seem to be in good usable condition. I believe some were replaced recently. Nice original chrome and bumpers with minimal aging.Mechanically, she seems to drive quite well. I took her on a test drive for about 10 miles recently and while these don't have a ton of horsepower, it seemed to manage Pacific Coast Highway traffic with ease. Clutch and brakes work great. The brakes were completely rebuilt about a year ago. All lights and signals were working properly. It tracks straight down the road and is really fund to drive with the top down. The fuel injection appears to work properly. The engine runs smooth and quiet.... for a air cooled VW.. No appreciable leaks.All in all, if you are looking for one of these little VW gems, this one is a nice example that has been cared for and maintained properly throughout it's life. I know my friend purchased this a while ago from a elderly couple that he has known for a long time. They owned it for many, many years and used it for summer drives up the central valley coast and local mountains.I did notice that there appears to be some minor floor pan repair with fiberglass in a couple of small spots. While I won't call it extensive, it's worth noting. I am not an expert on cars or a professional. I am simply helping my friend and his wife sell this cute little car as my friend had a shoulder replaced, not as successfully as one would hope, so shifting this is out of the question. They would like to see it go to a good home where someone can enjoy it this summer. I gave this car a 45 minute inspection and test drive and find for a late model air cooled VW it is really a nice car.I am sure there are many things to tinker with and upgrade/repair as this a mostly original car that has been maintained and repaired as necessary over it's life. It is by no means a perfect car or a show car, just clean, simple, honest, and cute. It is the perfect driver for a fun weekend.The title is clear and my friend has it "in hand". The California registration is current until August 2024. The car will be smogged for a California buyer.Sold "as-is", "where-is", with no implied warranties or guaranties.
