RARE 1973 VW 181 Thing - Awesome daily driver!!!

1973 Volkswagen Thing Additional Info:

Sadly a new house forces me to sell my weekend toy :(
This 1973 Type 181 VW Thing has some rare options as well as many new parts and engine. As you can see from the pictures, it has the very rare full carpet interior - not only does it make it quite comfortable to drive but it also dampens the normal heavy noise from the bare metal floor Things that you'll most likely find for sale.
This Thing is VERY fast - not racer fast, but if you have ever driven any older VW, you know what slow means. She will easily keep up with traffic and cruises any highway at 70+ with no hesitation.
The greatest part about these Things is that the top goes down, the windows come off with a pull, the doors come off with a pull and the windshield folds down with a release of a latch....all of which can be done by one person in less than 3 minutes. The rear seats also fold down flat so the back can be also be used as a spacious cargo area.
There are seat belts for each passenger as well. It has 2 drink holders, a center console for your phone and change, working 12v outlet and even the rolling glove box map light works!
They only made these for the US for 2 years in 73 and 74 - most of which are rusted out or beaten into the ground over the years. The floors are very solid and the body is pretty solid too. It's a 45 year old VW so yes there are small blemishes and little bumps and cracks in paint here and there - but you're not buying a $25k restored one off Barrett Jackson.
I have a clean title in hand and she is ready to go to her new home.

It also came factory with the rare gas powered heater under the hood. I have absolutely no idea how to use it, but it's pretty cool to show people at the car shows :)
