This is one very special Vw Thing nicknamed "Some Thing" it was featured april 2000 in Hot Vw's magazine with a 3 page centerfold! It has been ina private car collection for many years andis nowready to hit the beach again! The Thing is untouched from the original build which took over a year to complete and featured the work of some of California's top builders back in the day including, The Baja Shop (front suspension) Petersen Engineering (rear suspension) Suspension's unlimited (chromoly class 5 trailing arms) Walnut Valley paint and body, Olympic Powdercoatings (front suspension, front and rear bumpers, full roll cage) Auto Upholstery of Orange (two tone interior) Trim Shop (custom top) German Motorworks (side windows) T.J's (complete wiring harness)
There was a lot of money and hard work put into this Thing, it features a built 1835cc power plant. forged crank, Cima pistons/rings, Web-cam, high flow oil pump, dual port heads, 9.5:1 compression, Zenith carb, custom airbox by Petersen Engineering with remote mounted air filter, ceramic coated Petersen Engineering-modified S&S exhaust, etc. etc. IRS transaxle built by Transform of Long Beach, CA with modified gear ratio's, super-diff and welded 3rd/4th gears, Gene Berg short shifter,Brand new Red Top Optima battery with kill switch.

An amazing full roll cage was custom fabricated (covers the entire Thing and ties into the rear suspension!)it ispowder coated in Mercedes silver, along with the front and rear tubular Baja style bumpers which were also powder coated, the front bumper housing dual Hella off road lights.
The interior is beautiful, finished in a two tone grey theme with Beard seats up front, with matching rear seat, custom cut dark grey marine carpeting, Simpson racing harness seatbelts, an Alpine cd player has been added with Sirrius satellite radio, custom kick panelMemphis speakers up front and two boxed 6x9's in the rear.
