1983 Volkswagen Rabbit Additional Info:
25K on rebuilt engine, 155 bar injectors, quick spooling turbo off later model TDI. Makes about 10 PSI of boost almost immediately. Recently upgraded to head studs and a 3 notch head gasket to lower the compression a tad. Pump was tuned by PO but not sure what was done to it. Starts and drives really well. Front mount inter-cooler with 2in pipes. I wouldn't says it is fast at all but it drives way better than stock, no prob keeping up with traffic which is a lot to say for these tiny diesels. Lots of hours put into the turbo and inter-cooler setup. 5 speed manual that sometimes sticks out of gear but I have been driving it like that for years.
Painted about 4 years ago, shows a little age but looks good. Very small amounts of body rust was cut out, new metal welded in and smoothed over. Deleted side markers and trim. Converted core support to round light front end and deleted/converted to small taillights in the back. Laid down a coat of silver metallic, then translucent white then 2 coats of clear. Looks white at first glance but has a sparkle to it in the sun. VW Cabriolet grill, fog lights are there but not connected.
Lowered on H+R coilovers, cabriolet wheels, tires only have a few thousand on them. Handles turns very well. Floor pans and are solid but little bit of rust next to the pinch weld, coated heavily with por-15 and has not gotten any worse in the 6 years I have owned it. No rust in the spare tire well, shock towers or windshield.
Interior is very nice for the year. Every thing is there including matching package tray. Head liner is there but is droopy in places. Cabriolet center console with boost gauge.
Overall nice car for an 83 but its an old VW and it vibrates like one. If you are not familiar with old vw's do some research first. $250 non refundable deposit due within 24 hours of offer acceptance.
Also for sale locally on CL - ad may end early.
