For sale here we have an excellent example of American-built German engineering. This Volkswagen Rabbit Pickup was built in Pennsylvania. It's diesel-sipping 1.6L engine producesa whopping60 horsepower, and gets around 45 mpg. This truck is in extremely good condition for being 35 years old. I was in the middle of having it restored when the gentleman who was doing the work on it passed away suddenly. So while it runs, drives, and stops as it should, it's not a showroom vehicle... but it could be. The engine was rebuilt and injector pump replaced, making the engine basically brand new. The body is very solid, as shown in the pictures, and the interior isn't terrible. If you're looking to ride in luxury... keep looking. It has crank windows, no AC, no cruise control. But it will get you where you're going reliably and cheaply.
The biggest problem right now is the transmission linkage... it's very sloppy, and nearly impossible to get into 5th gear. I bought a kit with the bushings and parts to rebuild the linkage, but the mechanic hadn't gotten to that before he passed away, and I never got the kit back from his shop. They are available on eBay for around $40. There is also a bushing in the steering column that is worn out, and the column rattles when you go over a bump. Annoying, but not a big deal. I've decided to sell the truck because I have too many projects already, and when I need a pickup truck, I need something that can haul a little more than this VW.
The truck is located just north of Columbus, OH. I can drive it to a nearby shipping depot if you set it up and need it done. If you'd like to see the truck in person, please send a message with a phone number and I will try to make that happen. I WOULD RATHER NOT SELL THIS TRUCK THAN TO HAVE AN UNHAPPY CUSTOMER! I am proud of my 12-year, 100% feedback rating and would like to keep things that way. Please ask any questions prior to bidding and I will do my best to answer them in a timely fashion.
The winning bidder is responsible for making a $200 deposit via PayPal within 24 hours of the auction ending. The remainder of the payment is due before the truck and title leave my possession. I would prefer cash in person, but will accept a cashier's check if my bank ok's it.
Again, please ask questions before you bid... then bid, and bid often, because only the last one counts! Good luck, and thanks for looking.
