This 1992 Volkswagen Cabriolet Wolfsburg Edition is one of the closest you’ll get to buying a brand new one. The car was purchased in 1992 by the woman I bought it from, driven for 5 years and placed in storage for 20+ years! There are just over 23,000 miles on the car and because it was stored, the paint and interior are literally like new. The owner called me after seeing some of the cars I had listed on ebay and asked if I wanted to buy the car - they tried to start it and it would not start, but I purchased the car based on the condition and pictures they sent. After draining the gas, replacing the fuel pump, filter and all of the injectors - and installing a new starter the car would not fire. I did a compression check, and it was very low so I pulled the head and found the rings had seized on the pistons. I had the engine rebuilt by David Boles - known for building these engines for VW racers across the country, and I purchased a reconditioned head from GEX International…I have all of the receipts. The engine was installed and is not even broken in, I put on about 40 miles and changed the break-in oil. No expense was spared to get this car back to “as new” condition. The tires are new, the wheels are perfect, the battery is new, the exhaust was replaced from the cat back, the a/c was converted to 134 and blows ice cold, the original radio would not respond to entering a code, but probably works and goes with the car along with the Activ front speakers. The front and rear speakers were replaced along with the head unit. There is lots of time and money in this car, and it looks, runs and drives just like it did when it was purchased for $21,700 in 1992. Even the factory cruise control works as it should. I’ve come across a number of low mile Cabriolets, but this one is as nice as they come. Please view the pictures and let me know if there is anything else you’d like to know about the car. I have additional pictures and video of the car running.
THIS IS NOT A PROJECT. The car is also for sale locally and if you have questions my name is Mark 239-292-2370.
I've had a number of calls asking about this and other Cabriolets I've listed and sold. I'm not a broker or dealer. I have a "real" job, do this strictly as a hobby and have owned and worked on various Volkswagens since 1985. I try to find low mile examples that need minor reconditioning - mechanical and cosmetic - then go through the entire car before I list it. I try to provide honest descriptions so as not to waste anyone's time.
Here's a couple recent testimonials...

“I couldn't be happier with the car. I have no reservations or regrets after purchase which is a surprise to most people. There's plenty of horror stories out there about people buying cars on eBay or other websites that don't see the car prior to purchase. Mark is different. I feel He's an honest guy and he went out of his way to help me with making it easy.”

“It's only been two weeks, but I am very happy with the car, which I bought for my wife. It had only 40,000 miles (Carfaxed) despite being a 1988, and the interior especially is immaculate. Best of all, Mark has been a great communicator. Any questions I have, he responds promptly. He doesn't just make the sale and then hide with his money. I know I can count on him regarding any questions I have today or six months from now.

"I have been restoring old Volkswagens to original condition as a hobby for over forty years and have bought cars from many people. I take pride in making sure the cars are right when I am finished with them. I wanted to buy a water cooled Volkswagen that I could just drive and enjoy. The 1993 Volkswagen Cabriolet that I bought from Mark is a wonderful car and it is exactly what was described. I have to say that after all these years Mark is on my gold list of respectable people. These days when so many people are scamming others it is nice to know one who can be trusted and is very honest. Mark made my purchase a pleasure and for the first time I was able to buy a car without any worries. Thank you so much!
