1970 Triumph GT6 GT6+ Additional Info:
Up for sale is aBlack 1970 TRIUMPH GT6+ MK2, 2.0 liter 6 Cylinder, dual Stromberg 175CD carburetors, with a non-overdrive 4-SPEED transmission.
Black EXTERIOR:The exterior has a new black paintjob, but it's not perfect. It has some orange peel, but has 10 coats of paint and can be wet sanded and buffed even more. The body work is not perfect either. The original color of the car was #23 Sienna Brown(yuk, and that is why it now black).
Black INTERIOR:The seats are original and the driver's seat has two holes. The new owner may wish to put new covers on them. The seatbelt are original Triumph lap belts. New black carpet, black headliner, black door panels and rear panels. New black plastic transmission cover. New black stainedwoodrear compartment cargo deck. The rear carpet is the longer style, allowing more cargo area and some storage behind the seats. The wood dash has been stripped and refinished. The dash pad is original and has some cracks. The dash knee pads are also original and in good shape. The white sun visors are original in great shape except for the passenger vanity mirror.
Heater works, rear "demister", two speed windshield wipers and windshield washer work.
Rubber seals:New window, windshield, doors, boot, bonnet seals.
Sound Deadening:The inside of the car was sprayed with Lizard skin sound deadening.
ENGINE:The 2.0 liter inline 6 cylinder engine runs great, with rebuild and tuned twin Stromberg carburetors. A Pertronics pointless ignition system has been installed in the distributor, helping the engine to run smooth. A new water pump has been installed. The exhaust is stock, but the muffler has been replaced with a loud glass-pack.
TRANSMISSION:The non-overdrive, 4 speed transmission works well and shifts well. A new clutch, pressureplate, throw-outbearing, clutch slave cylinder and master cylinder have all been installed. New gear shifter linkage spring and bushing. Original stock gear shift knob.
PEDALS:Rebuilt and repainted pedal mechanisms with new gators and rubber pads.
WHEELS/TIRES:The 13x4.5 steel wheels are stock, painted silver and are held on with larger Land Rover Freelander wheels studs and lug nuts. The chrome hubcaps are early stock hubcaps for Triumph Herald and Spitfires and have the early hand painted aluminum globes, which I refurbished. The tires are old and a little oversized at 205/60R13. A 185/60R13 would fit better and rub less on bumps and sharp turns. You could also put on 155/80R13, which would be the closest to the original size. There is no spare tire, jack etc. included.
REAR DRIVE:The rear differentialis stock and has not been rebuilt. It does drip some oil(typical Brit!). The driveline and drive axles have been rebuild with new Roto-flex and U-joints.
FRONT SUSPENSION:New poly bushings, new lowered shocks and coil springs. All parts have been refurbished, sandblasted and repainted.
STEERING:The steering rack and pinions was rebuilt with new rubber gators, solid aluminum mounts and new tie rod ends. The steering wheel has been refurbished. The steering shaft joint has been upgraded to a new solid metal u-joint type.
REAR SUSPENSION:All parts have been refurbished, sandblasted and repainted.New poly bushings, new shocks. Stock leaf spring.
WHEEL BEARING:All the wheel bearings have been replaced with new ones and packed with new grease.
BRAKES:New brake master cylinder. New rear wheel slave cylinders. New rear brake pads and front brake rotors. Rebuilt front brake calipers. New brake shoes and good original rear brake drums.New stainless steel braided brake hoses. All parts have been refurbished, sandblasted and repainted.
FUEL SYSTEM:The tank has been cleaned as has the fuel line. There are two fuel filters.Rebuild and tuned twin Stromberg 175CD carburetors.
BUMPERS:The front and rear bumpers are stock, originals. The (1970 only) license plate light/reverse light aluminum housing has been stripped, polished and clear coated.
The car appears to have been in a previous accident. The right rear fender has been replaced. Before I painted the exterior and sprayed the interior with Lizard Skin, the inside of the fender was Valenciablue. The deck under the spare tire well has been partially hammered out.
PARTS SUPLIERS:The new parts mostly came from Moss Motors, Victoria British, British Parts Northwest and SpitBits.
MILEAGE:eBay required I put the mileage down. That is what the speedometer says, but I find it unlikely to be true. It may have 137738?
