1954 Triumph Other Additional Info:
This particular TR2 is a bit rare, as the "long door" (as they would be come to be known as) was in production for only one-year. Prior to VIN 4002 the TR2 had a "long door" but after complaints about the bottom of the doors hitting curbs the doors were redesigned. It's hard to say how many "long door" TR2s still exist, but according to the most recently updated Survivors List, there are now about 850 of these listed, with most of them in Europe, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa, making a long door TR2 a rare sight in the U.S.A new wiring harness was installed, with a rebuilt starter, generator and new voltage regulator. New brake lines were fitted, new wheel cylinders and the master cylinder rebuilt, and new water pump was installed. The new leather and vinyl interior was fitted during this time period. In 1992 the car was professionally painted with DuPont Centari enamel in Old English White. In 2005 the seals in the steering box were replaced. The engine starts immediately and runs very smooth and strong. Engine compression is exactly as it should be in all 4 cylinders...about 150 psi in each. The 4 speed transmission shifts just like it should, going through the gears cleanly. Suspension, steering and brakes are as they should be.
Happy Holidays!
