1978 Triumph Spitfire With 1.6L Mazda Miata Engine & 5sp Additional Info:

This car is mechanically perfect and reliable car. Years of work has been put into this car, it took 6 months alone to create the custom wire harness for the car. The great thing about this car is that there is a large forum post about it, posted by the previous owner that i bought it from. In detail, it goes over the numerous months of all the things that he had done to this car. I suggest everybody to check it out before you bid. The seats have been moved back to make the car more comfortable for taller people and so has the shifter and e-brake. this was also done to house the new engine and transmission. The seats have been replaced with Mazda Miata seats and they have speakers in the headrest. The steering wheel is new. I still have the original which i will include with the sale, along with a box of miscellaneous spare parts ranging from control arms to gauges to mirrors. also included is soft top, and an extra cover that is used when the soft top is down.
Its got a very good clutch(you can take off in the car in 3rd gear). The transmission and engine come from a 1990 Mazda Miata 1.6 liter convertible. They are in excellent condition. It was all professionally done by an experienced mechanic in his free time and EVERYTHING runs the way it should. There is a link to a video showing the engine starting up and idling and another two videos showing the car do runs up and down the street. This car is FAST. Much faster than the original miata or triumph. it also revs much better than the original as well. it shifts very smoothly, and really takes off once you hit 3k rpm. it honestly takes off like a rocket and it sounds great. it is a real joy to drive. This is also, the most reliable triumph you will ever find. Stock, the triumph is a turtle. This car, not so much. Fun fact, the Mazda Miata was "Inspired by classic British roadsters such as the MG MGB and the Triumph Spitfire but was engineered to be as reliable as a Toyota Corolla".The Miata Motor was a perfect fit for this car. no arguement, And as For triumphs, it does not get any better than this. also, IT DOES NOT HAVE AN INCH OF RUST ANYWHERE ON THE CAR.
The small things that need a little attention. All are very MINOR things.
- speedometer is broken. It isn't hooked up to the transmission- it has a dashboard crack- interior needs a little detailing to be perfect- the hardtop needs vibration padding or bushings between the bolts where it is secured, behind the seats. dont worry, its not metal against metal. It rattles a bit but its an easy fix.
The car needs very little work done to it, all it needs is some tlc and it would be absolutely perfect. Trust me. This is surely the most reliable triumph you will ever come across. hands down. For the price, this car is a steal. You don't get to see a great car like this very often, its truly one of a kind. I've owned this car for a little while now but sadly, i've lost interest in it. I've rather have put my attention to an unrestored 86 Porsche 944 that i plan to work on during this cold winter. so, please, look at the images for a full picture of what you are bidding on.
