1974 Triumph TR-6 Additional Info:
Up for sale is this beautifully restored 1974 Triumph TR6. The restoration was completed by the previous owner in 2016 and less than 2,000 miles have been logged since. Mileage is 68,069 and believed to be accurate. Clear Virginia title.
Very nice single stage paint in 2016. The color is called "Evening Blue" and most closely resembles the new Ford Mustang "Grabber Blue". It is quite a striking color and gets lots of positive comments. I'd grade the paint job as an 8 out of 10... not concours but very nice. The original factory color of the car was Sapphire Blue. I have a quart of touch up paint and the paint code for the next owner.
When this car was restored, some very nice modifications were added as described below:
Moss 5-speed "HVDA" conversion kit. A 5-speed transmission was sourced and rebuilt from a 1984 Toyota with 70k miles. The Moss Motors website has some detail on the TR6 5-speed conversion kit and build process. What a difference this makes in the driving experience as compared to the standard factory 4-speed and dramatically better than the optional factory overdrive.
Libre 15 inch wheels with Triumph center caps (includes a 5th wheel/ full size spare- not pictured)
Moss Motors Miata seat conversion. Seats were sourced from a 1997 Miata. Recovered in black vinyl and look new.
Over-sized radiator with dash activated fan switch for cooler operation
All new interior (seats, sound insulation, carpet, wood dash and Triumph mats)
Dash replaced with custom made cherry wood. Matching varnished wood deck lid behind seats
Brand new canvas top (boot cover included as shown)
wood steering wheel and matching wood TR6 shift knob
Monza dual exhaust (nice throaty growl!)
New cd stereo with custom speakers
New chrome bumpers front and back
Front lower air dam and custom below bumper driving lights
Hand painted red side stripes including hand painted "union jack" on front fenders
New headlight lenses from Moss
All new trunk liner and floor with dash activated LED trunk lighting
chrome trunk mounted luggage rack.
During the restoration all the electrics in the car were completely rewired. The cumbersome under the steering wheel ignition switch was moved to the center of the dash where the rheostat was located. All gauges function except for the temperature gauge.
The car starts, runs and drives exceptionally well. The engine is original to the car and has the original (rebuilt) Stromberg carburetors. Recent tune-up and oil change. Last month I replaced the front brake pads, added a new caliper on the passenger side front, installed new brake hoses, new front sway bar links & bushings and new steering rack boots. Front hub bearings were repacked.
The tires have about 50% tread (205 60 R15)
There are zero rust issues... this TR6 has always been a southern car. Underneath photo's show only mild surface rust. Glass is excellent all around and both windows roll up and down as they should. There are front lap and shoulder seat belts installed.
Please note that the temp gauge is not working but a tested replacement is provided. There is a slight rub on the front inside of these wheels if the steering wheel is turned to its limit.... due to the wider width of the Libre wheel.
Included with the sale: Owners manual, shop manual, parts catalogs, assorted spare parts etc
