1978 Triumph Spitfire Additional Info:
1978 Triumph Spitfire with 1.6L Miata engine and transmission. Have put very few miles since conversion. Car had a few small bad spots but was very sound. Miata engine had 60K miles when installed. Most of the engine sensors, injectors, etc... have been replaced. Most all of the suspension and braking components have been replaced including u-joints, shocks (KYB), lowering springs, rear leaf spring with lowering block, trunions, bushings, tie rod ends, slotted rotors, new drums (basically everything except the rack and pinion). Has brand new tires.
Dash was redone. Previously used seat covers and door panels were installed. Gauges are aftermarket. New steering wheel. Carpet is new.
Front has been modified to the earlier small bumper set up. Hood and fenders have the GT6 louvers. Comes with hard top as shown and a convertible frame only. Paint is not a professional job by any stretch but it looks good going down the road. The underside has been cleaned and painted with POR.
Still needs a few things resolved including:
- Front end alignment
- Speedometer - probably need to go to a GPS unit
- IAC valve is not properly functioning so needs a warm-up
- Glove box trimmed around new ECU
- Fuel level sending unit
This car starts right up and is quick, albeit noisy, but its like a go-kart.
