1982 Subaru Other Additional Info:
Up for auction, a very neat 82' Subaru in very nice shape for the age, and with very low mileage to match, just under 54,000 miles!. Engine is carbureted, originally with a subaru 1 barrel carb, but was replaced with a new weber upgrade due to lack of availability of a kit at the time. Comes with original carb and intake. This car came with cruise control, but with the conversion, those components had to be removed, but are also included if future modification for use is desired. Also involved with the weber conversion was a carter high volume/low pressure fuel pump, and the omission of the factory vapor return hoses.
This Subaru has the Dual Range 4wd, which allows for 2wd, 4wd Hi, and 4wd Low, and a 4 speed standard transmission that shifts very well, as do all ranges in the 4wd transfer case.
Equipped with the height adjustable suspension, which all the adjustment points on the front struts and at the torsion bar move freely. Some of the suspension may require refreshing, to my eye looks to be all original.
Other options include a/c, power steering, and power windows. The ac currently doesn't blow cold or is inoperative, but according to an ID tag, was updated to R134a refrigerant at one point.
Also equipped with the "Cyclops" center passing lamp, seen activated in the 5th picture, which is a cool feature which I understand wasn't offered very long.
The fuel gauge hasn't been working. Took it out to clean it to no avail, will either require replacement or a more thorough repair. I will also note that the inside of the tank, as seen through the port when I checked the sender, looked a bit rusty and I personally would consider looking out for a good used tank at the same time.
Undercarriage is in great shape, the only substantial rust on the car is the bit on the rear fenders.
Tires are very low mileage, but are studded snows, so replacements would be required for summer use.
Drivers seat is he only one with noticeable wear, the rest is darn near a time capsule, save for a little old car smell.
Also included in the latter pictured are the original owners manual, warrenty booklet, dealer locator guide, as well as a Haynes repair manual, and a 1984 parts guide which may prove useful for some things. The wheel center caps are also included, though i forgot to get them back on before the pictures.
I have yet to drive the car on the road since the test drive a few months back, after getting it in trade from a former Subaru mechanic friend who did most of the work. Before I got it, he did brakes all around, and the weber conversion. For some of the technical questions, I may need to consult him, but will answer any and all questions as quickly as possible to the best of my ability. Planning on registering it for the big Subaru show in Stafford CT in June if it does not sell, but could use the money for my recently cooked transmission in my truck.
If you would like to see the car in person, or arrange independent inspection, please contact me sooner than later, I should be available for the majority of the the upcoming Friday through Monday, though I may make a day trip out of state if no appointments ate cued up.
Car was recently registered in Connecticut, which does not issue titles for vehicles this old, and sales of these older vehicles ore by bill of sale only. Please check your states requirements, and I can try to accommodate your needs, in the past I have sold out of state buyers with a bill of sale which was notorized, and to my knowledge satisfied their needs.
Will update add if I remember anything else, auction subject to end early if local sale occurs.
Thank you for your interest and happy bidding!
