1968 Ford Mustang Shelby 500E

In the Fall of 2007, I finally took delivery of the red and white striped mustang Shelby 500E . The car had been individually detailed for the correct components by Carroll Shelby Enterprises, and Kurt Van Peterson of Dallas, Tx. Kurt had arranged for me to meet with Carol Shelby on several occasions and express my gratitude. One of those meetings took place at Barrett Jackson in Scottsdale, Arizona. While I was there with Carroll and his team, I was told that some of the components were not available to build the 427 ci Stroker small block that I had requested. Contact was made with Roush Racing and it was decided that they would ship the short block assembly and most of the engine components. Approximately 12 months after delivery, Roush racing sent a technician to Little Rock to personally re-tune the electronic ignition system. The serial number that my records reflect identifies this engine from Roush racing as Serial# 427363. Todd Miller was the technician.

I’ve enjoyed the car immensely and it has been garaged inside temperature control environment it’s entire life. At the time I receive delivery of the car, to the best of my ability I discovered that Ford Motor Company only built 24 of the original Shelby’s with a combination of red, and tan leather.
