1989 Classic Roadsters Ltd. Sebring-MX V8 Roadster

Offered for sale is a 1989 Classic Roadsters Ltd. Sebring-MX, an Austin-Healey-inspired specialty constructed roadster produced by Classic Roadsters Ltd. of Fargo, North Dakota.

The car is accompanied by an unusually good collection of original and historical documentation. The Classic Roadsters Certificate of Origin is dated September 18, 1989 and identifies the vehicle as a 1989 Classic Roadster, Sebring-MX kit, 2-door roadster, with an 8-cylinder engine and 2,000-lb shipping weight. The Certificate of Origin describes it as a “Specialty Constructed Vehicle” utilizing some remanufactured components.

The vehicle was subsequently titled in South Carolina and later Pennsylvania. The Pennsylvania Certificate of Title identifies the vehicle as a 1989 Sebring convertible, lists South Carolina as the prior title state, and shows VIN CRLBBG113KF000118. Additional historical paperwork includes the prior South Carolina title, original bill of sale/transaction paperwork, registration documents and other records associated with the car.

The car presents as a striking dark blue roadster with contrasting white racing stripes and an Austin-Healey-inspired body. Features visible on the car include:

  • V8 engine configuration per the original Certificate of Origin
  • Sebring and Classic Roadsters badging
  • Hood scoop
  • Dual white racing stripes
  • Cragar S/S wheels
  • Convertible/soft top with rear window
  • Chrome bumpers, grille, mirrors and exterior trim
  • Twin windshield wipers
  • Bucket-seat interior
  • Additional loose parts and accessories as shown in the photographs

Mechanical condition: This vehicle has been sitting for an extended period of time. We have not attempted to start or run the car. Accordingly, the engine, transmission, brakes, electrical system and other mechanical systems are being sold as untested, and no representation is made regarding their present operating condition. The vehicle should be considered a project/non-running vehicle and transported accordingly.

Cosmetically, the car shows age, storage wear and deterioration consistent with a vehicle that has been sitting. The paint/finish shows oxidation, fading, spotting, scratches and other imperfections. The convertible top is weathered/discolored. Chrome and brightwork show age and oxidation. Some components are removed/loose or may require repair or replacement. Please examine all photographs closely as they are an important part of the condition description.

This is an interesting opportunity for someone looking for a documented Classic Roadsters Sebring-MX V8 project, particularly with the accompanying period paperwork and title history.
