To start with, let me first say that I am listing this ’63 Pontiac Grand Prix for a good friend and it is not my personal car.
I also understand that there is a lot of information in my ad and that this may be boring to the person who is just looking and not buying. However, for the person who is looking to buy and spend their hard earned money, I feel that there is never too much information. I try to do all my ads the same regardless of the value of the car.
As to myself, I am a (66) year old kid that loves muscle cars. For my work, I am retired from Managing a Correctional Facility here in Maine and had worked for the Maine Department of Corrections for (40) years. I am also a respected member of my community. I mention this only because of the value of this car and so that prospective buyers will have some idea as to who they are dealing with. Also, please check out my eBay feedback that has only one negative feedback which I believe I should not have received. I was given the option to refund money to the buyer or he would leave negative feedback and ruin my 100% feedback. I did nothing wrong and always disclose everything in my ads so I declined. He left the one and only negative comment out of (1,146) transactions. Many of my transactions have been muscle cars, which I have sold to individuals all over the country as well as Canada, England, France, Switzerland, Australia and the Netherlands. My reputation for honesty is well known amongst muscle car lovers.

Just a little history on the 1963 Pontiac Grand Prix:
In 1963, along with the other B-body Ponchos, the Grand Prix shared an all-new body that was more angular and modern-looking than theprevious year. Gone were the '62's side cove and the chrome fender wind-splits. The most apparent change was the radical stacked headlight treatment and the new "Coke-bottle" body style. The 1963 Grand Prix is considered by many enthusiasts to be the first "true" Grand Prix. There is no denying that the 1963 GP is a significant and desirable vehicle. Talk about a show-stopper! This car, along with the other full-size '63 Pontiacs, is credited with changing the look of Detroit offerings for the next several years.
Pontiac designers nailed the proportions giving the big car a sporty attitude despite being notably bigger than its GTO sibling which is no minor achievement. The all-new look of the 1963 cars introduced styling features that would become Pontiac trademarks for years to come including stacked headlights and the slick taillights hidden in the trim.
The public responded very warmly to the restyled GP, as production jumped to 72,959 units—more than double the previous year's total. In fact, the GP stole a good deal of sales from the stunning new Buick Riviera, which could muster only a 40,000-unit production run.
This full-sized coupe has a great look that may be due to the legendary Super Duty DNA running through its fuel lines that gives the GP such a potent look.
With the GTOs and Bonnevilles getting all the attention it's only a matter of time before everyone catches on that the Grand Prix is really the one to own.
What we have here is a real affordable and desirable “Barn Find.” A perfect candidate for a restoration as what you see is what you will get. Original drivetrain and what appears to be solid original body panels on a 1963 Pontiac Grand Prix that has clocked only 20,000 miles in the past 53 years. Even though we feel the mileage is original, with no documentation to authenticate that, we are advertising the Grand Prix as mileage exempt. For all of you Pontiac enthusiasts, this would be a great car for your collection.

Exterior:
The exterior is very solid and appears to still wear all of its original body panels. There were a few small but typical rust areas behind the front tires that were cut out and new metal welded in. The paint is completely sun baked/faded and absolutely needs to be repainted. All glass appears to be original with no cracks or noticeable scratches. Chrome and bright work is complete but weathered. There is no trunk lock installed. The tires are OK and the rims are Kelsey Hayes Pontiac aluminum brake drumswith 8 lug rims and the trim rings and center caps intact.
Interior:
The interior also appears to be all original to include the carpet. Needing a complete do-over, the headliner is ripped and sagging, the dash is cracked, seats and door panels as well as the carpet needs to be replaced. Having said that, the GP is a bucket seat with console equipped car. It has the console mounted vacuum gauge. (Not currently working.) The speedometer, wipers, horn, lights, blinkers, interior light, back-up lights, trunk light, heater and battery gauge are all functional. The fuel gauge, clock and cigarette lighter are not working.
InEngine:
The 389/303hp engine appears to be all original and never apart. The GP starts right up and purrs like a kitten. No funny noises or smoking noticed. Plenty of power available.
Mechanical:
The power steering is working fine and the steering functions properly. The master cylinder was replaced and all brake lines bled. The brakes are power assisted and the brake booster appears to be working fine. Since replacing the master cylinder, the brakes are working as they should but the new owner should blead the brake lines to ensure all air is removed. No leaks in the radiator or hoses with no overheating noted. Shocks and exhaust are considered driver quality.
Undercarriage:
Super solid with the exception of a small arear under the driver’s side foot that needs to be addressed. Factory undercoating with just surface rust noticed.
Trunk:
When the GP trunk was inspected it looked great with what appeared to be all original components to include the jack assembly, trunk light, rubber trunk mat and cardboard side pieces. However, when the rubber trunk mat was removed, the moisture that collected and was never able to dry up caused the entire bottom of the trunk to become rusty. It was decided to remove the rust and restore the trunk area. See photos.

FYI: I do not have a Maine title for this 1963 Pontiac Grand Prix as Maine does not issue titles for vehicles that are more than (15) years old. I have sold cars all over the country as well as Canada, England, Switzerland, Australia and the Netherlands and have never had a problem. The car will come with a Bill-of-Sale, the Maine registration signed over to the new owner and a copy of the Maine law regarding titles which is on a form issued by the Maine Motor Vehicle Department.
