1971 Pontiac Firebird Formula 350 Additional Info:
Full PHS documents, Runs and drives. Garage kept the last 20 years. Only driven to the local gas station. Original color was gold. Fully optioned with power windows, locks, cruise control and A/C. Rubber suspension mounts are worn our so there is a lot of body roll. Air shocks in the rear to control ride hight. Damage to body on passengers side from previous owner. Passenger fender is very hard to find and rippled. Tires need to be replaced. Transmission and power steering both have slow leaks. The brakes are all new and work well. The gas tank leaks at the filler tube, so I do not fill it all the way up. Let's call it what it is, it is a project that needs to be gone over from front to back.
It is a fun classic to drive around the neighborhood while slowly working on it. It turns heads even in it's current state. The primer black spot is because I took it to maaco and their classic car guy quit so they gave it back after he started to strip it. I sprayed some primer on it just so it would have some protection. Very minor rust. One small spot behind drivers door. No rust on floor boards or trunk. quarters behind rear tire are rusted through on the outside of the drivers side and have started to rust on the passenger side behind the rear tire. A simple patch panel could be welded in behind re tires to eliminate rust damage. This car would be a great winter project. Very doable restoration. Could be a an 80k show car or a 30k driver. Your call.
If you have the skills to straighten up the body then this is the project for you. The mechanical stuff is easy to work on since the rust is minor. If you do not have the skills to fix the body then expect to spend money at the body shop.
THE PARTS CAR - I have a spare parts car. (1971 numbers matching esprit but it is a rust bucket. I only bought the parts car for the passengers side fender and it can be towed away. It has no title but I bought it off my neighbor so the title could be obtained if it were mandatory. He is a hard guy to catch at home so it would take some work to get the title)
Will try to post some better pictures. Feel free to ask questions. This is my dream car so I would love to restore it but I just can't find the right body shop and I don't have the skills to do the body work. Time to give it to a better home... Would love to see pictures when it is done and would like the right to buy it back if the purchaser is a flipper.
