1965 Plymouth Fury Sport Fury Additional Info:
Offered for Sale is a 1965 Plymouth Sport Fury Convertible, with a 383 V8 4 BBL 330 HP Engine, Automatic Transmission, Bucket Seats, and Power Steering, with Gold Exterior Paint and Gold/While Interior.
This is a nice Mopar that could be driven and/or would make a great restoration project. The motor starts up nicely when cold, but can be difficult to start when warmed up, suggesting it likely needs carburetor adjustment. The car drives well and shift smoothly. Instruments operate correctly, and the convertible power top works just fine as well. Windows operate fine, and doors close nicely. The mileage is 22,350, so have to assume odometer rolled over. A small amount of repair will make this car a nice reliable driver.
The body is presentable, but has some rust, scratches, small dents, and paint wear. Also has evidence of lower quarter panel bondo repair. Good candidate for full restoration with metal replacement of lower quarters, and potential fenders behind the front wheels.
Chrome and glass are in pretty good shape, with some relatively minor pitting and tarnish here and there, but not too bad. Missing "C" molding/trim at rear end tailgate.
The undercarriage and frame are solid. Has some surface rust and road grime, but seems very solid, as do the floor boards and trunk. The engine compartment is solid, but both engine compartment and engine itself need to be detailed with some repaint. Engine and value covers need to be repainted with proper Moparturquoise, of which a spray can of the correct engine color engine enamel is included with the sale of the car.
This is a highly collectible Mopar that can demand a high selling price when restored....and, it is a 383 convertible...when the top goes down, the price goes up! The reserve price on the sale of the car will leave more than enough room to make a profit on the car following a standard restoration.
Please call Paul at 248-573-5013if you should have any questions. The car is located in Mecosta, MI (approximately a one hour drive from the Grand Rapids, MI airport). A car lift will be available to inspect the undercarriage of the car.
Thank you and go MOPAR!
