Here we have a 1968 Ford XL 500 Fastback for sale. This car comes with the deluxe Marti report and has been kept as close to original as possible. It's 1 of only 740 that were built with the 390 Four Speed and is a one of one with the options that it was ordered with. Don't miss your chance to own this special Muscle Car. In the paragraphs to follow we will give a brief description of the exterior, interior, and driveline of this Ford but first we would like to tell you a little about us.

We will start off with the exterior of this Fastback. The body on it is in great condition and is all looks to be solid and has great lines. We can see that the paint has an older finish to it and that it shows some age from being done a while. However, we did wet sand, buff and polish it back up and had it professionally ceramic coated to help it hold up with time. You can see that it has a great fit of all the panels and that the gaps are even and symmetrical. Both the front and rear bumpers were rechromed and have a beautiful finish. This car is done in the Candyapple Red which is the factory option and is accented by the body line stripe and lower stripe that are done in white. All the emblems, trim, and stainless is very nice. Up front the grill and headlight doors are very nice for their age, and out back the rear trim and bezels are also very nice. All the glass in this '68 looks to be in great condition as well and the side glass goes up and down with ease and has a great fit. To finish off the stance it's sitting on the old school slots with Firestone Wide Oval White Letter tires.
Next, we will look at the interior of this XL. On the inside this car looks to be mostly original. Of the 390 Four Speed XL fastbacks that were painted Candy Apple Red only 59 came equipped with Black Bucket Seats. This car is in excellent condition considering its age. The door panels and all the handles are in great condition. We can see that the seats look to be original and have some small splitting at the seams on the backs of the front buckets. This '68 has the factory console as well that houses the four-speed shifter. The rear package tray as been redone and new carpet was installed. Looking at the dash, it looks to be close to stock and features the wood grain accents. The dash pad is in good shape for its age with some small splits and it also has the factory steering wheel and stock radio. Inside the trunk is all solid and looks to have been very well cared for. It has been detailed in the black paint.
Finally, we will get to the driveline of this Ford. As mentioned only 740 of these XL Fastbacks were ordered with the 390 Four Speed. We can see that the engine bay looks close to stock and has been well preserved over the years. The 390 V8 engine is detailed out on the Ford Blue and has the factory valve covers and air cleaner that are also detailed in blue. It has the factory Fan Shroud and is set up with the four-barrel intake with an Edelbrock Four Barrel Carb. It comes packaged with Power Steering and standard brakes with drums on all four corners. The 390 V8 Engine is mated to the Four Speed Manual Trans that goes out back to the 9" Rear end with 3.50 gears. For exhaust it has manifolds with new dual pipes and mufflers. When we look under this Ford it's in great condition. It has factory pans that all show great and look to have been well cared for. The same can be said for the frame as it doesn't show signs of abuse. On the highway it runs out great as the 390 performs excellently and the transmission shifts smoothly with a new clutch being installed. Don't miss your chance to own this rare optioned muscle car!
