Single-Family Owned 1970 Porsche 914-6 3.0 - Stored for 30 Years
Evolve Custom Automotive Restoration is pleased to represent a beautiful 914-6 with upgrades:
This 1970 Porsche 914-6 was purchased new by the seller’s father and driven primarily between his home in Ann Arbor, Michigan and Toledo, Ohio, where he flew jets for the Air National Guard. A 3.0-liter flat-six from a 911SC was professionally installed when the car was about 10 years old, and a repaint in the original color was performed around the same time. The car spent most of the next 30 years in storage in Michigan until being gifted to the seller in 2008. A subsequent inspection led to the installation of a new battery, spark plugs, and fuel lines. The interior has also been refreshed, and an aftermarket radio with vintage look and modern features, and front air dam, were added many years ago. The seller drove the car infrequently and garaged it in Colorado until shipping it to California in April 2018. This 914-6 is now being offered in San Diego, California with a few recent service records, three keys, and a clean Colorado title.
The 914-6 featured 5-lug wheels from the factory, and the 15″ Fuchs equipped here are shod in 195/60 Bridgestone Potenza RE950 tires. The brake calipers have also been painted red. Additional exterior photos are provided in the gallery. The interior was redone last year. An aftermarket stereo system and shift knob have been added as can be seen above.
The 3.0-liter 911SC engine is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox and was installed by a Michigan-based Porsche mechanic sometime between 1978 and the early 1980s. The electrical system was refurbished and the fuel lines were replaced during that time as well. A good deal of general maintenance was performed at Autoworks in Colorado over the subsequent 10 years, including installation of a new alternator and the interior refurbishment. An oil service was performed and new spark plugs and a battery were added prior to the car’s move to California in 2018.
Records from the work performed by Dieter’s Motorsports in San Diego, California in May 2018 are included. They document a service, some wiring repairs, and a brake flush.
At Evolve, during the last two months we inspected and addressed any areas of rust concern, properly properly welding in small areas of new metal: under the fuel tank, and in the passenger footwell. The car is now solid and has no rust concerns.
