With only 1,097 every produced, offered for sale is a rare piece of American muscle car history - a limited edition 1973 Oldsmobile Cutlass S, Hurst H/O with its original number matching Rocket 455 engine and 400 Turbo Hydra 3-speed automatic transmission. Beyond the powerful 250 HP Rocket 455 engine, this Olds offers the limited edition Hurst H/O package with swivel bucket seats and Dual-Gate shifter. This car also has power steering, power brakes, and air conditioning still kicking out cool air.
This is a highly original estate find survivor car, with only a few signs of past body or paint work. The car is 100% correct to the under hood data plate. The VIN is3G37U3M397296, with a matching engine plate number ending in 3M397296. The original 400 Turbo Hydra automatic transmission number is 73 OD-11352. The original Rochester Quadrajet 4 barrel carburetor number is 7043251. The car was thoroughly inspected by a classic car restoration shop, and was determined to have mostly all original metal and paint, with only a few signs of past body rust clean-up just under the B pillars at the lower edges of the factory installed black vinyl top.
The frame rails, floor pans, and rockers are very solid, with relatively light rust in trunk floor. There is some rust that requires repair at bottom of rear quarters (both behind and in front of the rear wheels) and behind the front wheel fenders - all of which can repaired and restored in a relatively easy manor with small metal panel patches. The areas of the most rust issues are along the bottom of the rear window trim and the rear deck trunk lid - both of which were caused by water getting trapped over the years under the vinyl top. The paint shows well and requires detailing, after which the degree of any required repaint can be better determined.
Mechanically the car runs very strong, shifts nicely, and does not overhead. The original radio is missing, with an aftermarket radio in the trunk. The instruments and lights work properly, with the only exception found being the non-working gas gauge. Having been sitting for years, the tires have flat spots that are very noticeable at lower speeds. Based on the age of the tires, they will need to be replaced. In the interior of the car is in very good condition for its age. The leather seats are in very good condition, there are no cracks in dash panel, and the headliner is in relatively nice shape. The carpet needs to be cleaned, but are in relatively good condition. The Olds hood emblem is missing, as is the chrome window trim on the drivers side below the rear end of the vinyl top.
