1955 Oldsmobile Ninety-Eight Additional Info:
CONDITION: Considering it is 61 years old, it is in pretty good overall condition. The transmission probably needs the bands adjusted as when approaching a stop, it shifts a little hard from second to first. The hard shift can be avoided by slipping the transmission from drive to neutral with ease.
FEATURES: Black and red paint job is less than two years old. Original 324 cubic inch engine is stock. Only a chrome air breather has been added. Many items have been re-chromed including bumpers and some side trim. A new set of white wall tires are adorned by the spinner hubcaps. A new gas tank has replaced the original one. Interior is the original coral and gray in fair condition. The back seat is in good condition. The door panels will need to be replaced. The headliner is gray with no damage and featured by the chrome strips keeping the headliner intact. The padded gray dashboard is in remarkable shape showing no cracks or visible damage. New black carpets have been installed. Two push buttons are located on the floor, one for dimming the headlights and the other one moves the wonder bar radio stations to the next one. The radio is stock and currently is inoperative. All gauges are intact and work. All glass is intact. The passenger window is sluggish but with assistance can be rolled up or down. The wing windows operate smoothly. Some of the chrome is "crazed". The trunk still has the spare tire, platform jack and 4 bar lug wrench. Very little rust is apparent. An "OLDS" trombone case is included to store the jack. The transmission features Neutral, Drive, Super, Low, and Reverse. No, there is no "Park" designation. To park the Olds, shift it into Neutral, turn off the ignition, put in reverse, and set the emergency brake. All lights are operative. A new battery was just installed.
HISTORY: In 1955, Oldsmobile Models included 88, Super 88, and Holiday 98. The Holiday version normally has the most options. As this is my third 1955 Olds to own, I truly enjoy owning and driving them. As you may recall, Burt Reynolds drove a black and gold 55 Olds in W.W. and the Dixie Dance Kings. This Olds cruises very easily at 75-80 mph with no problem. Ultimately, I want to purchase a 55 Olds Convertible. I believe the mileage to be accurate. The previous owner lived in Vancouver, Washington who bought it from an estate. It was not tagged for unknown length of time. It has a current Oklahoma Title and tag. It is also insured with Hagerty. Estimated current value is $17,500.
SHIPPING AND PAYMENT: All costs associated with shipping will be paid by the buyer. Of course, I can drive it a short distance for loading onto a transport truck. I used Passport Transportation when I brought it to Oklahoma. It is located in Owasso, which adjoins Tulsa on the north side. Pay pal payment of $1000.00 non-refundableis due within 24 hours. The balance must be paid in full no later than 7 days after auction ends.No refund is permitted. No guarantee or warranty is implied or offered.
INSPECTION: Buyer is welcome to view or send someone to inspect it before bidding. It is subject to sale elsewhere. Any questions should be directed to me via eBay. While I did previouslyhave a reserve, it has been dropped.I think you will be impressed with the condition. SO......once the bids exceed the starting price of $10,000.00 and is paid, it will change hands to the new owner.
FEEDBACK: As you can see I have sold well over 3500 items and have 100% positive feedback.
