1955 Oldsmobile Eighty-Eight Holiday hardtop Additional Info:
1955 Oldsmobile 88 4 door Holiday hardtopNew: bumper chrome ($8k alone), seat upholstery, carpet, complete tune up, rebuilt fuel pump, refurbished fuel tank, completely rebuilt power braking system, Edelbrock Carburetor, Rubber for glass, headliner, generator, and battery. Comes with brand new shocks to install. Over 15k was spent to get it roadworthy.
Original 324 Rocket V8 Runs and drives, but has some lifter noise and smokes a bit. Engine has about 150k on it, Hydramatic transmission has about 50k and has a slow leak from the pan gasket. Never overheats and all the gauges work. Starts up fine even sitting for months. I have driven it 70+ for 200 miles at a time.
Needs rust repair in the front floors, but the car is solid otherwise. Has a temporary patch installed. Some normal corrosion in the battery tray.
Paint is 6/10. About 6 years old. was originally light blue/dark blue with the same colored interior.Has some overspray, dings, and chips. A great driver paint job that gets thumbs up everywhere it goes. Would clean up well with a good wet sand/buff. The jambs, trunk and engine bay are painted with semi gloss. The 15x8 American Racing smoothie wheels could benefit from being refurbished but are fine as is with good tires. The windshield has some discoloring in the lower edges, but functionally it’s fine. The side and windshield stainless all could use a good polishing. The front left door glass is cracked but I always keep the windows down so it doesn’t affect me really. The door rubber needs to be installed still, but comes with. Door panels need work, but the car comes with a set of original door panels to remake, or use. The seats re done in black tweed for comfort in a non original pattern.
Was told the car was converted to ‘Super 88’ trim from a wrecked car in the early 80’s, including 4 barrel carburetor, power brakes, power steering, chrome headliner trim, and dash clock.
It needs the door handles, light bezels, hood bird, window frames, and hood and trunk ‘globes’ rechromed still. I’ve been doing it as I can afford it for a decade.
Needs a headlight switch, and some wiring completed. Has a draw from the gauge cluster I haven't figured out yet, so I disconnect the battery when parking for a while. The radio isn’t hooked up currently but it did work 5 years ago.
A cool driver as is to take to shows, but would benefit from a rebuilt/new engine and some details tidied up. A great full restoration candidate with many of theexpensive details already done for you.
The car is being offeredas is,with a clear Utah title. You must pick it up from Sandy, UT. Will work with your shipping company.

Edit: answer to a few questions:
-The electrical issues it has will be mostly fixed with the headlight switch install ($50 here on ebay) as the headlights, tail lights, turn signals, and reverse lights don't come on without it. I have driven it in the daytime only since the switch issue occurred and haven't fixed it yet.
-the car currently hasa 'Super' Headliner installed, but it does come with the regular originalheadliner bows. I put the super one in after it was painted in 2013as I found the side chrome strips, however the long ones that go side to side are non original and made from aluminum, but serve the same function.
-the door locks are currently not hooked up.
-Bumper Chrome redone in 2017
-The trans oil pan leaks about a quart every 2-3 months and I just keep an eye on it. easy fix with a trans pan gasket.
-The engine started having lifter noise and smoking about 1000 miles ago, and I have driven it sparingly since. it currently runs and drives fine, just is a little annoying.
thanks for all your interest and bids. the car also comes with a few boxes of spare parts. the reserve is nearat the low market value for the car.
