1948 MG TCChristmas Grinch Special!#5152
352 Miles on rebuilt engine!

This stunning 1948 MG TC is a pristine example of post-war British motoring, meticulously restored to 100-point condition. Finished in the iconic British Racing Green with impeccable green leather upholstery, this TC is the epitome of elegance and period-correct detail.

Every component of this vehicle has been faithfully and professionally restored to factory specifications, down to the finest bolt and badge. The car retains its original matching-numbers XPAG engine, rebuilt to exacting standards, and paired with its crisp 4-speed manual gearbox, delivering the classic spirited MG driving experience.

The frame-off restoration spared no detail- including the hand-crafted weather gear including the correct canvas top, side curtains, and tonneau cover. Chrome trim shines flawlessly throughout, including the iconic radiator grille, Lucas lamps, and correct Dunlop center-lock wire wheels wrapped in period-correct tires.

All mechanicals have been rebuilt or replaced with OEM-spec parts. The undercarriage is as immaculate as the topside, with every hose, line, and bracket restored to perfection. The electrical system has been rewired using cloth-covered wiring to maintain authenticity.

We do have all the documentation, including original receipts, service records, parts purchased, paint/body work, including a spreadsheet of work done totaling over $120K. Unfortunately, the owner passed away suddenly and never got to enjoy the car.

Toad is not only a showpiece, but also a fully functional collector’s car, capable of spirited touring or immediate placement in a serious collection.

A rare opportunity to own one of the finest MG TCs in existence.

The TC Midget was the first postwar MG,and was launched in 1945. It was quite similar to the pre-war TB, sharing the same 1,250cc (76cuin) pushrod-OHVengine with a slightly higher compression ratio of 7.4:1 giving 54.5bhp (40.6kW) at 5200 rpm. The makers also provided information for several alternative stages of tuning for "specific purposes".The XPAG engine is well known for its tunability. The TC engine was a slightly improved version of the XPAG first introduced to MG in the TB. Notable improvement was through the addition of a hydraulically (oil pressure) adjusted timing chain tensioner. All TCs utilized a (single battery) 12 volt electrical system. All TCs came with 19"Dunlopwire wheels. Automatic mechanical timing advance was built into the ignition distributor.

It was exported to the United States, even though the car was only ever built in right-hand drive.[6]The export version had slightly smaller US specification sealed-beam headlights (7-inch buckets) and twin tail lights, as well as turn signals and chromed front and rear bumpers with over riders.

The body was approximately 4 inches (100mm) wider than the TB measured at the rear of the doors to give more cockpit space. The overall car width remained the same resulting in narrower running boards with two tread strips as opposed to the previous three. The tachometer was directly in front of the driver, while the speedometer/odometer was on the other side of the dash in front of the passenger, a nod to MG's trials history.

10,001 TCs were produced, from September 1945 (chassis number TC0251) to November 1949 (chassis number TC10251), more than any previous MG model. It cost £527 on the home (UK) market in 1947.
