1983 Mercedes-Benz 300-Series TDT Additional Info:

Offered for sale is my Mercedes Benz 300TD Wagon. The car has been a California car its whole life. It was sold initially in the Santa Barbara area and spent the following 35 years in and around the central California coast.I purchased the car in 2019 and made it my daily driver. Throughout that time there have been ongoing updates, repairs and improvements. Just a few key items are:
- updated rebuilt injectors
- front upper and lower ball joints, tie rods and steering linkage updates
- full conversion to an R134 air conditioning system including new condenser and compressor
- intake/exhaust manifold gasket replacement including turbo rebuild
- new exhaust system- rebuilt rear axles- Working, original SLS system- new set of tires, with approximately 2,000 mileswithin less than 200 miles:- new front brake calipers installed.
- new brake pads on all 4 wheels.
The car is an excellent driver's car, it runs and handles beautifully. The engine and transmission are both original and the car easily keeps up with traffic. I regularly cruise at 80 mph and can reach speeds that are... excessive. It has never had a cooking oil conversion done to it. As a result, the entire fuel system including the injection pump are in perfect working order. The driver's seat and rear seats were re-padded to combat sag and are notably more comfortable. The air conditioning works very well thanks to the R134 upgrade. The car is comfortable to drive and gets tons of compliments from random people.
The only system that is non-functional is the cruise control. The cruise control module and actuator are still on the car but the linkage has been removed from the throttle control. Before the sale, I may install a new control module and update the listing accordingly if I verify the system is working. Central locking loses vacuum overnight but works during normal daily operation, vacuum pods or rubber connectors in the front passenger door and rear hatch may need replacement. All windows, sunroof and even the antenna open and close properly. Turn signal relay was replaced recently, headlight buzzer does not work. Rear hatch rattles and driver's seat bottom is torn at the base where it attaches to the seat frame. Before fully warming up the transmission flares slightly between 3rd and 4th gear. After driving for 6-7 minutes the flaring disappears. Shifting was tuned to get the smoothest possible shifts between1-2 and 3-4. Cassette player does not work but the AM/FM radio functions well with the original speakers. The car gets around 23 mpg combined. On long road trips with mainly highway driving, I've gotten as much as 28 mpg.
Feel free to message me for more photos additional details, I strive to be as transparent as possible!
