1981 Mercedes-Benz 300-Series Additional Info:
Hello all! This is the first year the touring diesel, or wagon, was available in the united states. This vehicle has the venerable om617 straight 5 cyl turbo diesel engine that is known for its reliability and longevity. I own multiple classic/vintage cars and recently found this car, which had popped up on craigslist, and bought it from the original owner (see photocopy of original owner's title application). I use this when I need to get groceries or can't ride my motorcycle so it is still being driven weekly. I tried to include pictures of as many angles as possible but will also be able to provide a photo dump of more pictures of the car. I will divulge as much info as possible but please contact me if you have further questions.
The car is fully functioning mechanically. I drove back two hours when I purchased the vehicle as well as weekly when I go out. There are new tires on the car and it has an aftermarket head unit. The car was always garaged so the paint/body/interior are in great condition. When visually inspecting the car I only found minimal rust (bottom edge of 2 of the doors but not on the body). The interior is almost flawless apart from one of the trim pieces (one metal trim piece cover near the drivers side window area is not secured/flush). the glove compartment latches but is not fully flush, the odometer stopped working on my drive back from purchasing the vehicle so 244,768 is the most accurate recent mileage. From my house to the grocery store is less than a mile so the mileage will go up minimally in the meantime. The last issue is that i have two keys but they are both for the ignition and I do not have a key for the door lock. The locks still function from the inside of the car.
Again, I can provide more pictures upon further request. I have included everything I have encountered with the vehicle, good and bad, so hopefully that will help you in your search for a great vintage mercedes benz.
I will accept cash and meeting locally OR cash/cashier's check and shipping arranged by the buyer within the continental US.
