1964 Mercedes Benz 220 SE Cabriolet
Blue with Cream Leather
Introduced in 1961, the W112 generation of Mercedes-Benz S-Class replaced the famed “Adenauer” cars and was the absolute top of the line car. They incorporated a number of advanced technical and convenience features including sophisticated hydropneumatic adjustable suspension and fuel injection.
This particular 220SE cabriolet, with full European specification. The car has been in California since about 1965 with the same owner who passed away in late 2010 or early 2011. During his ownership, the car was repainted, dash top wood refinished, the seats recovered, and a beautiful tan canvas new top installed. The previous owner also maintained the car mechanically, but the receipts have not been found yet by his widow. As part of the European specification, this example features European gauges, headlamps, a 4 speed manual transmission, power steering, and an original AM/FM/SW radio. The total mileage is believed to be 103,000 kilometers or about 65,000 miles. Select records found within the car confirm that the car was repainted in 2000, with considerable upholstery work carried out in 1999. It has been recently color sanded and polished, and presents beautifully. The body is generally excellent with very straight lines, consistent panel match throughout, and no obvious evidence of major damage or repairs. The car runs and drives well with a sorted, coherent feel typical of well cared for Mercedes of this era. It is extremely rare to find a car that has been with one family almost forty years...
