1968 Mercedes 250sl Pagoda w113 280SL 230SL RARE

We are excited to offer this rare 1968 Mercedes-Benz 250SL US-market example (Approximately 1,750 250SLs were imported to the US.) finished in White over a Caviar MB-Tex interior with a body-color Pagoda hardtop. Now showing 99k miles, the car is believed to have spent most of its life around Sacramento, California before relocated to Colorado in 2001. Power comes from a numbers-matching 2.5-liter SOHC inline-six paired to a four-speed automatic transmission, and within the past six months a new battery and new fuel lines have been installed. A tune-up and cosmetic refresh has also been performed, and this W113 is now being offered with new and original parts, the original glove compartment books, and a clear Colorado title.

The finish quality of this car shows very well and only has a few small chips and blemishes. The fender notches near the headlight trim rings are still intact on the car and are shown in the gallery of photos, as are the original spot welds on the fender. Some paint runoff is visible on the inside fender edges. Close-ups of the body stamping #3179 on the hood, convertible top boot, and matching hardtop are shown in the photos showing matching numbers all around.

The hardtop remains unrestored and is in above average condition. An older soft top remains installed and shows to have been tucked away for much of the vehicle’s life. A few patches are present along with a couple minor tears 1-2″ in length.

Trimmed in Caviar MB-Tex upholstery, the interior shows to have been well kept over the years. Original upholstery is still worn on the seats, though a set of new matching MB-Tex covers are included with the sale. All gauges and lights work as intended with the exception of the fuel gauge. In preparation for the sale we installed a new turn signal switch and steering wheel to replace the cracked and damaged one. The original steering wheel is included with the sale. 99k miles are shown on the odometer, which is believed to be accurate.

Fresh carpeting has been installed along with a set of fitted Coco mats.

• Replacement head gasket and valve stem seals

• Adjusted valves, reset timing, and replacement valve cover gasket

Service work performed just prior to the auction includes:

• New distributor cap and spark plugs

• New battery

• Oil change

• Replacement fuel lines to the pump and engine

• New throttle linkage

Stamping #129982-12-001743 on the engine block is shown in the gallery and confirms the engine as original according to the Data Card and VIN-tag.

The spare tire and tool kit are missing, though a spare tire cover and tool case are included in the sale.
