1900 Land Rover Defender 110 Tithonus 300TDi Additional Info:

For sale is my 1986 Tithonus 300Tdi which I’ve had for the last four years. It’s been my project car and has over $15,000 worth of parts and hundreds of hours of labor in it to mechanically restore it primarily for long range expeditions which I’ve undertaken in it to Florida, Utah, Colorado and New Mexico from South Eastern Texas.

Part of the British Army mid life update program known as the Tithouns Project it was originally a hardtop and has probably served in one or possibly both Gulf wars, the last unit to operate it was the Royal Anglian Regiment known in UK as the “Vikings”.As such I have no idea of its previous operating history or repairs, so I am representing the truck as I know it.

It currently has around 122,400Km (aprox 75,000 miles) on the rot free chassis and running gear. With no more than 20,000 miles on any of the upgrades with the exception of the transmission which has less than 300 miles on it

I’ve converted it to a soft top using all genuine parts with a number of military issue additions such as WMIK steel grille, side mounted wheel carrier, heater snow cover,hood5 Bar checker plate, raised air intake and Donaldson extreme climate filter and a brand new PVC Canopy.

It also has an ARB Salisbury rear locker, onboard compressor, power inverter, 2x individual 12v lighter type power outlets, front and rear diff protection, a 2” receiver, Hella LHD H4 headlamps with new surround bezels and up rated Rovers North Xenon bulbs fitted.

The engine is a fully reconditioned 300Tdi from UK replacing the original N/A diesel and has only 20,000 miles on it with all new ancillary units such as Garret turbo, Bosch injection pump, injectors, alternator and starter motor. Up front are a new radiator, electric cooling fan, water pump, Allisport performance intercooler, power steering box, new hoses and damper.

The transmission is a fully reconditioned R380 gearbox, with recent clutch assembly, release bearing, master and slave cylinders, with a fully reconditioned 1.41 transfer boxcomplimented by a replacement X Eng rotor handbrake. Both axles have all new oil seals and gaskets fitted.

In the cab are the ARB locker switches, new VDO water and oil temperature gauges, new style steering wheel, new vent seals and a Tuffy security box with cup holders.

The vehicle is shod with 265x75xR16 Mud terrain tires with Terra Firma HD shocks all round and Land Rover HD coiled springs.

It has just had the oil and filter change, a new Serpentine belt fitted and the paint work tidied up and itdoes have small amount of body filler along the bottom edge of the LHS front wing and behind the rear license plate, why I do not know.

I personally would have no hesitation to drive this vehicle the length and breadth of the US.I would also welcome any demonstration or inspection necessary to confirm these attributes to a potential buyer.

This truck is way more than the sum of its parts, ideal for the Land Rover enthusiast who wants a head turning, reliable daily driver that is a go anywhere vehicle.

The truck is advertised elsewhere and as such I reserve the right to withdraw it from this auction without notice. Any and all questions welcomed

Finally as an ex Army vehicle the overall body finish is as to be expected froma 30 year oldtruck that has had an active life, therefore there can be no warranty expressed or implied. No returns accepted.

Happy Bidding
