1980 Land Rover Range Rover Additional Info:
Rare 1987 Range Rover Classic. Not many 87s left. This has the very desirable NON sunroof top. All Rockers replaced with 3/16" steel rectangle tube. All flooring replaced with 16ga. steel. If you have been looking at these, you probably know the flooring is a major problem with these. It'll be a looong time before these rust out. We did away with the problematic lap welds and butt welded the front flooring to prevent trapping moisture in the laps. I have tons of pictures of the entire process. The rear crossmember and all of the body mounts have been replaced.
New rubber oem body mounts, with custom 1" aluminum body spacer provides a mild lift over the already slightly taller springs.
Paint is about 2 years old, and is an 8/10. Some knicks from normal use. Eastnor Green is the color. I have an entire extra set of body parts from another RRC (doors, hood, tailgate, etc.) I also have a truckload of spares from parting out several of these to complete this one. All parts that i have will go with it if the buyer would like them.
Headliner is new, and there are custom fit weatherproof seat covers on the front seats. The leather is aged underneath, but the seats still sit as new. Power seats function fine.
Completely serviced, axles transmission tcase all fluids have been maintained
Tires have plenty of life left, Hankook ATs
A/C blows cold! and heat/defrost works as it should.
Runs great, have driven daily to work (30 miles each way) and never had an issue. I wouldnt hesitate to drive it anywhere.
Front receiver hitch for winch. Will include winch at buy it now price.
As of now the Rover just needs some minor things taken care of:The speedometer just quit working, i have a new gauge set that will be included...it could be the cable, just havent had a chance to look at it.
The coolant level sensor is bad, so it flashes on the dash. never bothered me...truck holds coolant well. The top end was rebuilt (HG and intake gaskets, as well as new injector gaskets) about 6 months ago. i think new sensor is about 40-50.00
The rear upper hatch latch on passenger side needs to be replaced. about 40 bucks online.
The low range shifter is sticking...common issue from nonuse of shifter. These are 4 wheel drive all the time, so never really needed the low range.
Cruise control isnt working.
I Strongly recommend that you view the vehicle in person...I have been working on Rovers for a long time, and its far more structurally sound than any i have seen. I intended on doing an engine swap, but just have too many other things going on at the time (new baby) and have several other rovers to maintain.
If you are not familiar with older Land Rovers and their quirks, please do ALOT of research before bidding. Part of the fun of these is working on them....if thats not your idea of fun, please dont bid. Thanks for looking, email any specific requests for pics or info...i'll be glad to go over it in as much detail as possible.
