1987 Land Rover Range Rover Additional Info:
****Brush Guard is not included.****Lower Air Dam/Front Spoiler is not included.I will update tomorrow regarding anything else that is not included and add additional notes regarding condition.I'm looking over the vehicle again once the rain stops, to see if I can add any other notes, but I urge you to ask any and all questions and don't wait until the last minute to ask anything.
See pics for actual condition. If you are in the US, message me a phone # where I can contact you during reasonable EST hours (9-5 at my office, usually).
Also a note - the state of RI does not issue titles on older vehicles. This one will be sold on a bill of sale, if required.
Car is being sold for local pickup - I may be able to coordinate a tow if the buyer is within a reasonable distance in RI or parts of MA at a reasonable cost to YOU. Otherwise, local buyer must pick it up with a flatbed or transporter, etc.
Out of state buyers must arrange shipping and it must be prompt and reliable. I am not responsible if your shipper does not remove the vehicle in time.
My friend that has been storing them is moving his business to a new location, so they need to be gone by the 13th of the month.
Selling my 1987 Land Rover Range Rover Classic SWB 3.5L. Car shows 120k on the odometer but I am selling as TMU (if you know rovers, you know how problematic the right angle drive speedometers were - even when connected they did not like to work). This vehicle ran when parked years ago (I bought another classic at the time) but has succumbed to the rust issues that classic range rovers are prone to over the years. Because of this, this vehicle is being sold as a nearly complete car (minus a few cosmetic accessories) for parts only. There are a lot of very hard to find 87-88 only parts and the usual 97-95 parts on the car.
My other remaining classic is for sale in another listing, a 1993 Range Rover Classic County LWB 4.2L Sable Edition - a real sable edition, not one of the production 1994 trucks that got the interior but no special wheels. That truck is under the same deadline, please see my other listing for details.
I have a lot of extra 87-95 parts I also need to sell, they were emergency/spares that I picked up over the years. Lots of stuff in great shape that is hard to find now. I won't get to those until after I deal with these trucks, but you can get in touch with me regarding your wants.
Thanks,Michael
****Additional updates/info 09/07/16:
This rover has been in my family for a long time. It was originally owned by the sons of the owner or president of the AT Cross pen company. They installed sway bars in it when new, which I believe are still installed. It was then purchased by one of my family's best friend/client and then sold to my father a few years later. He drove it back and forth to work and the country club and then the vehicle was gifted to me to restore and drive during the big American SUV boom of the late 1990s and early 2000s.
What was done when I restored the car (1998-2002): The car was originally caspian blue and I had it repainted to gloss black. The original seats (front and rear) were pulled out and replaced with a 40,000 mile interior from a mint 1988 that was parted. I also had the headliner completely redone, along with the rear exterior sail panels, both in a material extremely close to the original Land Rover fabrics. The original radio had died and I installed a Rockford Fosgate CD player and speakers - the front door panels had to be cut to accommodate the speakers at the time. All the original door panel wood was refinished by hand by my dad and I, and the vehicle was run through and serviced (oil/fluids, CV joints, etc.) before I started driving it.
It looked amazing when I used to drive it around. I was the only person in the area driving around a blacked out classic with guards. I remember going to the local dealer after the restoration was done to pick up a new muffler (remember when dealers actually used to still carry classic parts?) and the salesmen went crazy when they saw me pull up. An older gentleman who drove there in a flawless 95 LWB to order his new '02 4.6 wanted to buy the truck, but I was too happy with my rover.
This truck was a huge part of my life growing up and my gateway into the vintage car scene (I have had many rovers, currently still drive a new Land Rover, a 944 (for sale soon) and a series 2 XKE that I am restoring. I hope it finds a good home as a whole, or that the parts go to people who really need them.
Thanks,
Michael

****09/08/16:
Please remember that the trucks are sold as is, where is.
I'm getting a lot of questions, I have answered all of them so far and will try to add some of that info to the listings later today.
I have a lot of inquiries on other vintage RRC items I have that are no longer available from anywhere, from general parts to interesting accessories. If you have things in mind, message me sooner rather than later.
I'm turning 33 this year, and RRCs have literally been my life since I started driving at 16. I learned everything I could about them, did my own work unless a mechanic or specialty tools were required. I'd fall asleep reading Kevin Kelly's FAQ, fourfold and the john brabyn's original site. I have dealer only items, rare stuff from the actual great divide expedition etc.
These trucks have a style and soul that I find in few other cars. I was gathering everything noteworthy I could get my hands on once they started disappearing in general and when most people stopped caring about them (when the P38 was at its pinnacle, but before the L322 was a sure thing), to make my trucks even more "correct" and unique.
Another thing to be aware of is that even years on, I wanted my trucks to be as close to original as possible, with only factory or period mods and upkeep (unless a safer/more reliable/cost effective part became available, for example). No off-roading, no cutting or lift kits etc. - just stock as they were intended, I'd obviously never get to buy a brand new classic because of my age, so I did what I could to get as close as possible to that feeling.
I never liked the soft dash models and never regretted staying away from the 95 airbag and crush can equipped 95s - that was an extra headache I did not want to potentially deal with at the time, and the original 87-94 dash was much better looking in my opinion.
Everything is pretty clear from my descriptions and pictures, but I urge everyone to ask any and all questions they feel are relevant. Please do not wait until the last minute to ask about the trucks. Thanks!
