Up for bid is a 1978 International ScoutII. This Scout has very little rust as it spent most its life inTexas. It came to Pa as the last owner was in the service and moved here before getting out. Last inspection was in Texas in 2000. He moved the Scout out of his garage and I kept passing it on the way to work. It bothered me until I recently purchased it. Now, am torn but either need to restore it or get it to someone who will give it thelove it deserves.
The Scouts floor is very solid and the under carriage shows minor scaling here and there. Inside floor has some minor rust but nothing a sanding wheel can't sand off. The door edges are evengood on undersides. Tailgate is virtually rust free but has some damage around button because some Texas kids tried to break in one time not realizing it latches on the sides. Damage should be fixable. It does latch. It is cosmetic. There are a couple of small dents. They areon thefront of passengers fender, rivers door pillar, nd a small spot on hood corner as shown in pictures. The Scout still wears its original yellow paint which is wearing thin at spots. The rally stripes on the side of Scoutare very cracked from the sun drying themout. Seats should be reupholstered and interior restored. The rear quarter panels are decent except for around the wheel lips on the front side of quarters and on the passengers side just behind the door on the lower quarter. The metal is pin holed and while through at spots, he metal in the affected area is still solid. Glass is good. The hardtop roof has some minor scaling from sweating on the inside but outside is good with some minor surface ruston the roofs edge where it attaches to body of the Scout, t the hinge of the rear window, t needs around a four inch piece of metal welded in to make the hinge operate correctly. Tires aredry rottedbut hold air as does spare. While the motor was rebuilt in 1998 along with the transmission, have not tried to start it. The last owner put a Edelbrock 4 bbl. Carb on a 4 bbl. intake without a air cleaner and told me he drove it around his yard but it didn.t run as it should after swapping the carb and intake. He included the original 2 bbl. carb and intake and air cleaner and it will come with it as well as the other parts in pictures. This scout has a bumper brush guard, uggage rack, nd hitch (not attached)but included in purchase. There is a six point roll bar but the front pieces were not installed and the fronts while rusty from storage, hould clean up if sand blasted. This was for cosmetic purpose and not really safety. It could easily be removed as its just screwed to the floor. Car came with air conditioning and does not work currently as its not hooked up. 4x4 driveshaft is in rear floor area of scout as it is not hooked up since transmission got done. The title is clear.
