1956 Ford F100 Custom Pickup Additional Info:
This radical 1956 Ford F100 Custom is something of a celebrity. It was featured on the History Channel’s “American Restoration” plus numerous magazines including cover features. The theme of the truck is that its numerous custom mods would all be environmentally friendly. The big 460 Ford big block has aluminum heads, a tunnel ram intake, and dual carbs. The engine generates about 550 horsepower – on 100% liquid propane. A “quick disconnect” exhaust system, which exits in custom-molded exhaust tips in the rear fenders. The engine and accompanying C6 automatic are painted to match the chassis components, which are the same color as the body, but cleared with PPG’s “Soft Touch” flat finish clearcoat. The ornate paint job features green and copper colors with lots of flake, and it is done with PPG Vibrance Envirobase paint, a completely VOC compliant paint system. Copper is the material of choice for the grille, bedsides and other pieces, which were all handmade. The copper is made from 20-ounce sheets from Revere Copper, who utilizes 95% recycled material in their manufacturing process.
The outstanding body mods include a smoothed and louvered hood – hinged on the side, suicide doors, and an electric hydraulic tilt bed. With the bed up, you can view the custom painted chassis, which features 4-wheel disc brakes and air ride suspension, the custom build 9-inch rear end, and the copper and stainless steel braided wiring and lines.
The interior is saddle tan and black leather with swivel seats. The smoothed dash is molded with the center console, which houses switches for the power windows, air ride, tilt bed, and the CD/DVD player. There are no fewer than 3 DVD screens in the cab. The steering wheel, which was built for this truck, is copper anodized and wrapped in black leather. You too can achieve celebrity status as the owner of this wild custom ‘56 Ford F100.
