1966 MUSTANG
....and now for something a little different.
The last time this 1966 Mustang was on the road was in 1990! For the last 29 years it has sat in a collector's carpeted, enclosed, climate controlled garage. I purchased this car at an estate auction from the West Coast. I'm not a big car man, just a guy that finds deals and flips 'em for a small profit. The only history I have on this Mustang is what I acquired from the auctioneer.
The car shows 44,150 miles on the odometer and I can only speculate that it's actual. Easy to believe as this thing has been tucked away for some time. It has a 289 "C" code V8 with two barrel carb. I don't know how to check if it's numbers matching, but decoding the VIN does reveal that's the correct factory setup. It has power steering. It was manufactured in San Jose, California.
Appears to be in original condition without modifications. Factory hubcaps, gas cap, interior, radio etc. Interior is in very good condition with an unusual center shifter console that I don't see in vintage Mustangs very often. There is a small hole in the passenger seat that's been covered up with black tape. Headliner also has a small hole. I believe that the paint isn't original. Looks good though.
As it hasn't been down the road in quite some time, I have not attempted to drive it (not to mention the 1990 tag on he license plate!) It does start and idle. I revved it up to about 4000 rpm and it sounds very good. I suggest the new owner change all the fluids, drain fuel lines and brakes, tranny fluid, radiator etc to make it roadworthy. I do not have the factory air cleaner but it did come with a chrome one that I've left off as it's not a perfect fit.
There is some bubbling in the paint at the bottom of the passenger side door. The floor has a patch and there's rust showing in the trunk. The fuel gauge doesn't appear to work, could be just a fuse. The lights and turn signals work as well as the interior light. The radio doesn't turn on. The oil pressure gauge works as does the voltage meter. I am in possession of the title.
While not a show car this is an exceptional, bone stock '66 V8 time machine vintage automobile that will be worth whatever you pay for it 20 years from now.
I am available to assist your shipper load her up. Very low reserve.
Typical disclaimer: This vintage automobile does not come with any type of warranty and is sold as is. It is available for inspection at my home in Orange County, California. $500 deposit required at the conclusion of the auction. Full payment must be made within 7 days from that.
