When it comes to vintage automobiles, California and the West Coast of the United States have always been the most desirable the world over for many reasons; the mild climate and the fact that many automotive trends started in California. The automobile is the perfect technological symbol of American culture, a tangible expression of our quest to level space, time, and class and a reflection of our relentless mobility, social and otherwise. You see automobiles advertised the world over described as California cars because at some point they were in California or drove through California. A true California car is one that was sold new in California and titled in California,

Up for a NO RESERVE auction is beautiful Vermilion Red on red 1990 Ford Mustang Convertible. This senior owned original 5.0 V8 Convertible is an original California Survivor that has been in storage for years. The original power top had not been used for many years so last month we replaced the original with a very high quality brand new top that looks and works great. The The Ford Mustang took the auto world be storm in 1965 with its sleek and sporty lines. The mustang ushered in a new genre of automobile; the "Pony Car", small, sporty and powerful. That excitement for the early mustangs would peak and decline as the Mustangs became less sporty and more clunky. That was until the mid eighties when again Ford would take the auto world by storm and introduced the new fox body mustangs with new powerful aluminum 5.0 liter v8 motor. On the 25 year anniversary of the first introduction of the Ford Mustang, the 1990 version was every bit small, sporty and powerful and brought respect back to the Ford Mustang brand.
Red is one of those colors that looks proper on a convertible car especially a Ford Mustang convertible. This 1990 model looks subtle without all of the gaudy GT bumpers and the original bottle cap wheels. The body is straight and there is no rust on the car. The Vermillion red paint still shines very nicely. There are a few little dings here and there as it is a 29 year old car. The top is brand new and flawless. All the body panels are original and still have the corresponding vin tags on them.
The interior is completely original and all there. The seats are in decent shape with no rips or tears in them. The carpet is in good shape with no rips or tears. The dash is in great shape with no cracks. All of the electric components are functional and work. It is very common for convertible cars to have terrible interiors that have been abused by the elements. For the most part this car has not been heavily abused by the elements and is very complete and in good shape.
Mechanically the 5.0 liter v8 starts up and runs strong. It is a fun car to drive with the power of a newer car without the bulky size. The transmission shifts smooth in all gears. The brakes stop as they should. The drive train is original and has not been messed with like so many of these cars have been. The shocks are original and should be replaced. The exhaust sounds good it is not loud and obnoxious but is unmistakably a v8 rumble. She is not your typical 5.0 V8 mustang that has been hot rodded it whole life, this one has seen very little use typically associated with a high performance convertible.Driving the car my first reaction is how strong of a runner she is. It really takes you back as most of these era Mustangs have been rebuilt and modified it is rare after nearly 30 years to find one that is all original. I believe this car will need to have the shocks replaced in the near future as I am sure the brakes could use to be replaced not because they dont work well they actually work great its that I am looking for things that are wear items. The biggest item that does not work is the rear drivers power window does not work possibly a new switch would do the trick, The air conditioning as well needs to be recharged as it does not blow cold. Otherwise this is a real survivor that deserves to be used
This is an original California car that has been unused for many years
