Up for auction is a 1968 Ford Mustang Fastback GT. This is an original Candy Apple Red GT factory big block S-code 390. It comes with a Marti Report and it has the factory buck tag and the factory data plate still attached.
This Mustang had one repaint a few years ago. The paint has been wet sanded and buffed and is super slick and looks great. It was told to me and as far as I can tell it is all original sheet metal including floor pans. The body is straight. The chrome and brightwork are excellent however the door handles do have a small amount of pitting on them. The quarter window frames also have some pitting on them. All lights, markers, license plate light, and turn signals including hood blinkers work. The wipers and the floor activated windshield squirters work as well. The stance on the car is factory and has not been altered.
The interior is mostly original with the exception being the carpet. The interior is in very good condition for original as you can see in the many pictures. There is a small tear in the piping on the driver’s seat and a small tear in the headliner and ill show both in the pictures. The radio is not the original and it has aftermarket speakers in the rear. All the gauges and interior lights work. The doors shut nice and tight however there is some wear on the driver’s door hinge (slight little pop at the hinge) that you can feel when opening and closing wide.
The engine is not the original 390 that came in the car however it is a 1968 model 390 block (date code is off 5 days) after the original build date on the car. This motor was completely rebuilt a couple years ago with high performance parts including big cam, Edelbrock Performer aluminum heads and intake. It has a 750 carburetor and big aluminum radiator. The engine & drivetrain runs and performs excellent in every way. It is strong and its fast. It runs cool, idles perfectly, shifts just like it should and there are no issues. The engine is tuned and was tuned by one of the best. I had the car completely gone through and serviced and it is ready to go and needs nothing that I know of whatsoever.
