The body boasts correct panels gaps and fit, all of the brightwork has been refinished or re-plated, and the car even rides on wide white wall tires with correct factory wheel covers. The engine bay is also restored to new-stock condition, with an eye toward originality throughout. The interior is expertly restored to a very high level and presents extremely well, with finishings, gauges, knobs and controls all in outstanding condition. Features and details that are unique to the early '55 Thunderbird's include; Ford crest and crossed flag emblems, Flat 2-spoke steering wheel with clear plastic spokes and domed hub - the steering wheel is so neat, if you've never seen one please take a look at the photos. No front fender vents, No sun visors on production units, Chrome "doughnut" exhaust ring (early production cars only), Wedge-shaped heater knobs. No vent windows.Airman Wallace Kirkman, stationed at Lowery Air Force Base, purchased his brand-new sports car, this fine Thunderbird, from Skyland Motors. Arizona Motor Vehicle Department records indicate the car has been registered from 1962 through the present in Arizona. This 1955 Thunderbird is a highest-quality and fully restored example that will be a great addition to any garage or collection.
