The engine and trunk compartments are clean and well-detailed. More importantly, he factory original door data tag and VIN plate is affixed to the driver’s door where it was put at the factory 40+ years ago. It has never been removed, wapped to another door, r replaced with a reproduction tag. The VIN stamps are clearly visible on the driver inner fender well. It received only one repaint in June 1984 to the exterior only to all original body panels! It has never had any rust, nd the only body panel replacement is the driver side rear quarter panel because of large dent. The paint found under the hood, oor & truck jams remain factory original. Interior is beautiful remaining all original with exception to new front seat covers that were replaced in the early 1980’s. Better still, t starts, uns, rives, nd performs excellently in all respects. Pulling clean and strong through all 4 gears, nd putting the power down through the correct 3.50:1 limited-slip geared 9″ rear end, his little car will run proudly against much larger cars of the day!

The Decoded Vehicle Identification Plate on the driver’s door is again unaltered and is the original plate that matches the casting number on the engine block and the VIN stamped under the hood, s well as the original buck tag.

The history of this car is completely documented from brand new! It began as a special order for a Ford mechanic located at Thompson-Fauskee Ford based in Santa Barbara, A. It was ordered with a host of options, nd a few dealer installed features after it was delivered on April 21, 966, ust 10 days after it was built. Factory options included GT Equipment, i-Po 271hp engine, imited-slip differential, ed band nylon tires, nterior décor group, eluxe seats front & rear, M radio, inted windshield, azard switch, -speed wipers, tyled steel wheels, nd Rally Pac tachometer & clock. Dealer installed accessories included a Ford Studio Sonic Sound System with rear speaker & reverb box mounted in the trunk, inyl roof, ubber floor mats, nd a hood safety lock to prevent anyone from opening the hood once the car was locked. This original owner enjoyed driving and maintaining it before parting ways to the second owner in April of 1969. This new Santa Clara, A owner meticulously accounted for every mile, ervice, as fill up, nd gas mileage in a small notebook for the next 17 years! Incredible! It was then sold in 1986 to a Fresno, A airline pilot who cared for it 14 years until selling to a childhood friend in June of 2000. Only these 4 owners account for this beautifully survived K-code Coupe nearly its entire life until it passed on to its most recent collector in August 2014! Five total owners from new! It was said to have been raced some by the original mechanic owner on weekends early on, ut we stress that it was never abused or altered from new. The only replacement items on the car include the radiator (original included), uel pump (original included), heel trim rings, rakes, alve covers (originals included), nd a few other wearable items. The original carburetor was rebuilt by Pony Carbs. The double redline tires are brand new having only a few hundred miles on them. Always meticulously maintained!

Each K-Code Mustang had a special badge on their front fenders that read “HIGH PERFORMANCE 289”. No doubt about it, he K-Code Mustang was all about performance and was not available with air conditioning or power steering. And you couldn’t buy one with an automatic transmission until the 1966 model year. Prior to that, ll K-Code Mustangs were 4-speeds only. The engines included upgraded pistons, ylinder heads, utolite 4100 carburetor, olid lifters & cam, pecial crank, onnecting rods, xhaust manifolds, nd more! In addition, ne look under the hood and you’d notice the chrome air cleaner and valve covers. Hiding behind the engine lays a high-performance clutch; heavy duty driveshaft, ” rear differential, nd suspension. With an advertised 271hp at its disposal, t was easy to tell this car from other 289 powered Mustangs of the day. The GT Package also had some serious hardware, amely a 16:1 quick ratio steering box, ront disc brakes, eavy duty suspension, prings, hocks and sway bar, T ornamentation, og lights, nd trumpeted dual exhaust coming through the rear valance panel. This particular “K-car” is truly spectacular and among the best driver examples you will find. All proper original K-code items are present and accounted for, nother rarity. The optional 8,000 RPM Rally Pac gauges are original and still operational.

These days collectors of the Ford Mustang look back fondly on the K-Code. Unfortunately, nly a limited number of these cars were manufactured. As such, hey are highly sought after! This particular car is registered in the K-code registry and comes complete with all original tire changing equipment in the trunk, he original window sticker from Thompson-Fauskee Ford, riginal California black plates & dealer frame, ritten ownership documentation, ervice records, nd registration documentation.
