1966 Ford Mustang GT K-Code Additional Info:
When you have a 1966 Ford Mustang GT that has race-ready V8 power, a slick all-black presentation, and a level of restoration the goes down to details like factory hang tags - well then, you know this is the kind of K-code machine that we've all been look for... but only one of us will be lucky enough to take home. The Mustang found mass-market appeal from day one, but it's a machine like this that makes it an enduring icon. In fact, there were less than 5,550 K-code cars built this year, and it might be difficult to find a better example anywhere. This received a full restoration only about 120 miles ago, and so this coupe is even fresher that it looks in the pictures. It was stripped down to bare metal, the panels were massaged to a standard above the San Jose factory, and then a new coat of glossy black was applied to upgrade this dark horse's personality. And this kind of investment means the brightwork is so polished, you'll probably catch ladies checking their red lipstick in the bumpers. But it's a different kind of red streak that will really have you excited. They paid attention during the restoration, and so you have terrific details like the reproduction double-redline tires that look terrific against the GT's triple rocker stripe. And of course, this one gets all the other GT details correct, too, like the fog lights in the grille, full badging, and the trumpeted dual exhaust mounted through the rear valance. The total pacakge makes for one of the most striking classics around, and that's before you even look inside. A loaded GT means equal parts luxury and performance. That's why you have a bucket seat interior with premium "Pony" package embossed in the seats. And because they spared no expense in the restoration, this feels fresh from the factory. Of course, all those reproduction factory tags also make it feel like visiting our showroom is just like visiting the Ford dealer in '66. Once again, they paid attention to detail with wood and chrome on the center console coordinating so nicely with the dash and steering wheel. The atmosphere is so authentic, right down to the trunk mat and the AM 8-track radio that's still on display. But your favorite parts of this interior are what make this a terrific GT. The stick shift is just begging for your right hand, and this even has the ultra-desirable Rally Pac tach/clock combo mounted on the steering column. As much as you'll love the interior and exterior, it's the rare K-code HiPo 289 cubic-inch V8 under the hood that will truly impress. After all, it's the motor that took home the trophies around the globe, and the presentation today will amaze even the most fickle Mustang enthusiast. Besides being so tidy that you could serve a meal off of it, this engine bay has the correct tags, factory decals, and all the right details to bring this icon back to day one. With the turn of the key, the dual exhaust gives a high power V8 symphony, and the smooth shifting four-speed makes you the conductor. The Ford 9-inch limited-slip rear end has versatile 3.50 gears to give it plenty of punch around town but still cruises reasonably at highway speeds. The aforementioned double redline tires and front disc brakes means both a classic appearance and good road holding. The sale comes with a full restoration photo file and a reproduction window sticker. So even the paperwork reflects the level of detail that has gone into this rare and speedy classic. This is the restored Mustang we've all wanted, and for one lucky enthusiast, a dream is about to be a reality. If you want that to be you, hurry up and call today!
