Here is a well optioned 1970 Torino GT, M code 351C 4V, automatic, power steering, power disc brakes and factory A/C. This is arguably the best color combo for a Torino, black with laser stripes. It is fairly rare to find an original black Torino GT, much less a factory laser stripe car. Originally from Los Angeles which explains the desirable air conditioning option which is very nice to have today, especially with a black car. It is a mostly untouched original car with matching # engine and almost everything under the hood original down to the carb, heat riser, etc. Odometer reads 89,917 and I believe that is original mileage.
Paint is older and showing its age quite a bit. I believe it has been at least partially repainted at one point but has that survivor look to it. The body on this car is overall very good. Mostly straight with one dent in the passenger door behind the mirror. Very little rust with solid quarters, trunk. floors, doors, trunk drop offs etc. Two minor rust spots in front of each rear wheel. Looks like there were small repairs done at the lower corners of the rear window at some point but they are small. The doors are not cracked around the latch like most unrestored Torino’s.
The interior appears to be all original down to the AM radio and looks pretty good, however, it could use some cleaning. The upholstery appears to be original and looks good and the seat does not sag. The dash has the typical crack to the right of the gauges. Carpet also appears to be original and is faded a bit but in good shape. Headliner is nice except for one small hole above the driver. Rear package tray shelf is nice with no speaker holes or water damage. Door panels are in good shape. Overall the interior would work for a driver with some cleaning or could be restored to take it to the next level. Smells a bit inside and needs a good cleaning.
The engine is the original matching # engine with vin stamped in the back of the block. It is stock down to the original carb and still has factory exhaust manifolds, etc. All A/C components are present. Motor does not currently run and hasn’t run in many years. The motor does turn over a little by hand but then it stops. I have not gotten around to looking into it but it could be bent pushrods since that is common on Clevelands or a valvetrain issue of some sort. I had planned on putting a different 351C in it temporarily and making it a driver while I rebuilt the original engine but I just haven’t had the time.
Overall this could be made into a driver with some engine and brake work but at some point it deserves a light restoration. This is the kind of car worth doing, great color combo, nice options, very little rust and matching #’s. These Torino’s have come on strong over the last few years and this car has room for some sweat equity.
I bought this with a couple other Torino’s and I had intended to make it a driver as is and restore it later because it’s such a great car but it’s been about a year and I don’t know when I’ll have time to get to it. I don’t have inside storage for it at the time so I decided it’s time to let someone else get the opportunity to enjoy it.
Car is sold as is where is with no warranty expressed or implied. It is available for inspection by appointment only. I have done my best to describe it accurately but please understand that this is a 47 year old vehicle that needs restoration. I have sold quite a few cars on ebay and try very hard to describe them accurately and to make sure potential buyers have any information I would want as a buyer. International buyers are welcome. In fairness to all bidders I will not disclose the reserve but it is less than the buy it now. I reserve the right to end the auction early, however, my intention is to let the auction run its course unless someone hits the buy-it-now. Full payment must be made within 5 days of auction end and vehicle must be picked up within 21 days of auction end unless prior arrangements are made. Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. Bidders with a feedback rating of less than 10 must contact me prior to bidding or I will cancel your bid.
