1961 Imperial Crown 4 door hardtop restoration project. Early production car, #525 out of 4769 built. Autumn Russet (paint code ZZ1) with matching light pink interior (928) . Hard to find car in a beautiful color combination, needs full restoration and does not runIt is complete the only thing missing is the center of the trunk lid trim which I will include if I can find it.
This is a California black plate car, which means it's solid, very clean underneath and not some east coast rust bucket. It still has some rust that will need to be fixed like anything this old. Everything is shown in photos but here is a run down: The outer dog legs on both sides need repair. The rockers and lower quarters are really nice both inner and outers. The passenger side front floor needs a patch and also the passenger side rear floor pan. Driver's side is nice. Trunk floor has a couple of finger size holes, but is way nicer than you usually find. There are a few small holes up by the rear window bottom, just in the outer skin, and I am including this panel removed from another car. Hood is not the greatest, trunk lid is fine, small area underneath heater box needs to be patched. Door corners have a little rust in outer skins. Frame and all undercarriage rock solid, of course. The area where the weatherstrip sits around the trunk lid opening (common rust area) is rust free.
Interior is complete, seats are solid, everything needs to be restored of course. Dashpad is cracked. The driver's door panel has good cardboard I do have the correct Crown trim for it that I will include. This is a power window and power seat car. The horn ring and turn signal arm are intact and so are all 4 rare interior door handles. Doors have been lubricated and open and close as they should
The motor did not turn when tried it, I put some Marvel mystery oil down the cylinders but didn't do anything more than that, don't have time to mess with it anymore. Motor has oil and has not been open to the elements. Everything is there. 413 V8 w/ a Carter 4bbl & Torqueflite transmission
Some of the chrome has pitting, and some of it is pretty nice. The grille is unbroken.The glass is good nothing is cracked driver's front window has staining.I did not test any of the electrical functions (window, seat, lights etc)
Would be a gorgeous car restored but I don't have the time to do it. Has clear title, rolls and steers fine. If the buy it now is used I will include a nice uncracked dashpad
