1967 Chevrolet Camaro RS Tribute Additional Info:
Tribute cars always seem to mimic the big-dollar machines, but this bright red 1967 Chevrolet Camaro is a tribute to the stylish RS with a very competitive price tag, especially when you consider just how nice this car really is. With a great-running 427 cubic inch big block, a built automatic transmission, a stylish interior, and the perfect muscle car stance, it's a dialed-in tribute that performs just like a high-end 1st generation Camaro should.
The paint is Torch Red, the archetypal performance color that always looks fantastic, especially on an early Camaro with white SS stripes painted on. For fans of the simplicity of the early Camaros, few colors could be better, and we have to agree that it's a big upgrade over the factory Butternutt Yellow this car was born with. It seems to emphasize the sheetmetal's curves; just look at the kick-up behind the doors and the sharp crease that runs the length of the body, neatly bisecting the doors and rear quarter. As an RS tribute, it has the traditional hidden headlights and simple single-element taillight lenses that are part of the package, as well as the requisite RS emblems on the nose. The white stripes on the hood and deck lid look great and have been painted on, so it has a slick look that works quite well and we love the way it highlights the Camaro script and emblems on the profiles. Chrome is quite good throughout, including the front and rear bumpers, and during the build a front chin spoiler and rear ducktail spoiler were added, perhaps as a warning to any challengers on the street. Don't worry, we'll get to that part soon enough.
Complementing the bright red paint, a set of black factory buckets greet you when you climb aboard. Black carpets and matching door panels complete the OEM look, and while it was done a few years ago, it's holding up pretty well. A factory console splits the front buckets, and it houses a chrome T-handle shifter that easily falls to the hand. Auxiliary gauges and a tachometer under the dash and a keep an eye on the stout big block up front and work together with the factory instruments in the original gauge openings. Entertainment comes courtesy of a newer retro-style AM/FM/AUX stereo head unit that's been neatly installed in the center stack and easily blends in with its stock surroundings. Out back, the back seat looks almost new, which isn't usually a surprise in Camaros, and if you open the deck lid you'll find a nice clean carpeted trunk with no nasty surprises.
Power comes from a burly rebuilt 427 cubic inch V8, which is the result of a 454 4-bolt main block augmented with a 396 crank. Finished in black engine enamel that matches the inner fenders and firewall, along with a set of chrome valve covers and matching air cleaner that are always right on a big block Chevy, it definitely has a performance look. A brightly polish aluminum intake manifold with a Holley 4-barrel carb help build horsepower, and in the lightweight Camaro, the big hit of torque is a real thrill every single time. There's also a big aluminum radiator up front, HEI ignition system, and a chrome water pump and alternator that really glisten inside the engine bay. The aforementioned TH350 3-speed automatic transmission has been beefed up with a short shaft and a 3000 stall convertor, and it spins a durable 10-bolt rear end that's more than capable of handling all that added horsepower. A set of ceramic coated long-tube headers feed a Thrush dual exhaust system that sounds downright nasty, letting everyone in the neighborhood know this isn't some run-of-the-mill grocery getter. Clean floors, power front disc brakes, power steering, sway bars, and the perfect stance all add up to a car that's going to get a lot of attention. Classic Rally wheels are the perfect complement to a classic Camaro and wear 215/65/15 BFGoodrich T/A white-letter radials with plenty of grip to finish the look.
Nicely built, clean, and a lot of fun to drive, this is an awesome Camaro with great colors and a good bit of attitude. Call today!
