1952 Chevrolet Other Pickups 3 Window Additional Info:
Regular readers of the Streetside Classics website already know that a lot of handsome Advance Design pickups run through our showroom, but very, very few of them are as nice as this 1952 Chevrolet 3100 3-Window. With incredibly vivid Green Metallic paint, a thumping big block V8 motor, and a lot of tricks up its sleeve, this might just be the one you've been waiting to own.
We've said it many times before: if you're going to paint a classic vehicle a bright, high-visibility impact color, you need to invest the extra time to make the bodywork as nice as possible, because you're going to get A LOT of attention and scrutiny on your rig. Well, the guys who built this truck did exactly that, spending countless hours in the body shop sanding and smoothing the sheetmetal until it was laser straight and ready for paint. Then they sprayed several coats of the most eye-blinding Green Metallic paint you've ever seen, and spent another few late nights wet sanding and buffing it to bring up a brilliant shine. And my goodness is it nice. The other thing it is, is incredibly slick. No graphics, no flames, no distractions from the clean 3100 shape that looks flat-out awesome, and despite it accruing a few very minor signs of use in the 15,880 miles put on it since the build, it's still in top driver-quality form and ready to be shown off with great pride. Much of the bright stuff was restored or replaced as well (including the iconic horizontal grille and 1-piece bumpers), and the final result is an uber-shiny, dynamic contrast to the light green paint that leaves all onlookers highly impressed. This one just looks right. The bed is beautifully restored with reinforced diamond-plate steel coated with heavy-duty spray-in bedliner, along with a fuel cell and thinned fenders all cleverly designed to maximize the space back there. Bottom line, there's just nothing on this truck that wasn't finished to a very high level before being bolted back on.
It's also a very comfortable truck to spend some time in, thanks to a luxuriously finished yet elegantly simple interior. A comfortably sculpted and padded bench seat has been covered with high-end black leather hides and contrasting white stitching, and with bespoke matching door panels at the flanks, it's easy to forget this is actually a vintage pickup truck. Plush black carpet and a taut headliner rounds out the upholstery in a rather handsome way, and the tilt steering column is fitted with a bright custom steering wheel that really punches up the '50s theme. Elegant white-faced Dolphin gauges were installed in the black dash, which gives them a very refined look and the long-handled Lokar shifter has an old-school vibe that works extremely well. Tunes come via a retro-style AM/FM/Cassette stereo centered in the dash that powers the kick-panel speakers, and the entire cab stays nice and cool thanks to a neatly installed under-dash A/C system that's blowing ice cold. Bottom line, if you're looking for a long-haul driver, this truck is definitely the right pick.
As you'd expect, this Chevy still carries GM power, although somewhat surprisingly (yet still very effectively) by way of a big block 430 cubic inch V8 swapped-in from a muscle-car era Buick. With just under 16k miles on the build of the truck, it runs superbly and looks fantastic inside the custom finished engine bay. It's very functional, with an Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetor and Edelbrock performance intake manifold, a trick air cleaner, and a ton of polished and detailed parts to make it glitter. The rest of the engine bay is very nicely finished, too, including black inner fenders and firewall, providing a great backdrop for the bright bits on the engine. The suspension has been upgraded with modern components including a Mustang II style front that features power front disc brakes and power steering - so you get a great ride every time out. A sturdy TH400 3-speed automatic transmission and a heavy-duty rear end round out the powertrain, leaving you with no worries about reliability and transforming it into an easy high-speed cruiser. The soundtrack is killer too, with a throaty Flo-Pro dual exhaust that exits underneath the tailgate and features electric cutouts that engage via a switch on the dash. Finally, flashy Ridler chrome wheels put a modern spin on an old favorite and wear staggered 245/45/18 front and 305/35/20 rear blackwall radials.
So yes, we sell a lot of these 3100s, but not many of them measure up to the standard set by this absolute gem. So, if you've been looking for a great vintage truck, your search is finally over. Call now!
