This 1964 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu is a sharp, upgraded example of the model in its nostalgia-inducing first year, first generation form. a sinister 383 Stroker V8 that's mated to a quick-shifting 5-speed, this recently competed '64 Chevy is lean and mean, and wrapped in a subdued paint job that will leave people scratching their heads after the dust settles. Repainted in elegant Aqua Blue to a serviceable driver-ready standard, the light hue actually works... rather well on the chiseled Chevelle bodywork. It stands proudly next to the Impalas with its more advanced and updated design and the smaller size gives it a more sporting demeanor that the Impala lacks, which is a big plus in our book. It's muscular. Finish quality is glossy and very presentable, although it's certainly not a demerit-free trailer queen, and you'll never be afraid of showing it at local events with pride. Better yet, people will be giving you appreciative thumbs-up gestures everywhere you go in this car and guys at shows will come up and remark that they've never seen this body style before. It's also thankfully saved from being yet another fake SS, which gives it an honest look that works quite well. The bumpers are likely original, the chrome trim and stainless window moldings are in decent shape, and both doors shut easily, suggesting a car that's led an easy life. The rest of the stuff is a nice combination of original and replacement pieces that work well together, with nothing standing out as either too fresh or too old. In a word: solid. Peek your head inside the window and you can see right away that the white vinyl interior has been neatly restored and presents very well today. The bench seating in front and back look very clean and feature a thoroughly era-appropriate appearance, as do the door panels that accompany it on each side. Look down and you'll see an expanse of period-correct blue carpeting, while above you'll find a very nicely fitted mint-colored headliner. The dash area on this classic looks particularly nice - the machined instrument panel looks just as it did when this Chevy drove off the showroom floor, with its clear factory gauges joined by a duo of auxiliary displays just below, and a vintage Sunpro tachometer strapped to the column. The steering wheel is likely this Chevy's original and matches the theme of the cab perfectly, and the non-descript floor shifter manages the 5-speed manual transmission below. Options are sparse, with just a heater and the original AM radio playing the roll of "amenities", but all the entertainment you'll ever need is delivered in droves via horsepower and gear shifts. Out back, the original trunk is spacious and features a correct mat and full size spare tire. The engine is a powerful 383 cubic inch Stroker V8 that's been augmented with PBM Profiler heads and dressed to play the part of a performance small block. The block wears traditional Chevy Orange paint, and the satin black engine bay is brightened by the finned and powder-coated Edelbrock valve covers and chrome open-element air cleaner. Go-fast parts include a Holley 4-barrel carburetor, an Accel HEI with Taylor Spiro 8mm wires, and an Edelbrock RPM air gap intake manifold. A set of long-tube headers dump into a nicely crafted dual exhaust system with chambered mufflers help bolster low-end torque for awesome performance and a thrilling sound. The chassis shows signs of recent work, and zero evidence that this truck/car has ever been abused. To finish the killer look, this '64 Chevy sits on a set of vintage-looking SS Rally wheels with 195/65/15 front and 215/75/15 rear performance radials. This 1964 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu offers the chance to own a first generation representative of the model that's looking sharp and drives impressively well. And with only 656 miles on the build, it's barely broken in. Call today!
